Hello dakkadakka so this is the army im gonna try to work with
HQ:
Chaplain with term armor: 130 pts

Troops:
Tactical squad 1: Flamer, ML, sgt with combi melta: 180 pts
Rhino 1: w/ extra armor: 50

Tactical squad 2: Flamer, ML, sgt with combi melta: 180 pts
Rhino 2: w/ extra armor:50 pts

Tactical squad 3: Flamer, ML, sgt with combi melta: 180 pts
Rhino 3: w/ extra armor:50 pts

elites:

Assault terminators: TH/SS 200Pts

Fast attack:
Stormtallon 1: Typhoon ML: 155
Stormtallon 2: Typhoon ML: 155

Heavy support:
LandRaider: extra armor, Multi melta, detacated transport for assault terms:275
Pred 1: auto cannon side laz cannons 120
Pred 2: auto cannon side laz cannons 120
Pred 3: auto cannon side laz cannons 120

total: 1965
left over 35

so this is what im thinking for said strategy.

Use the rhinos to push up fast to objectives, while the preds sit back and lay into the enamy with the auto cannons and laz cannons.

the LR which has the HQ and terms is meant to push deep and cause chaos.

I heard from some people that the storm tallon is just garbage but i dont really know their reasoning behind it. its a 155 point unit that can fire 3 blast weapons at once and is near impossible to shoot down unless you have a flakk gun.

next thing i did but i want to know what dakka thinks of it. i gave my tac squads combi meltas, originally i gave them plasma pistols and PF but again i was told they are not worth it. so i figured that a one shot S10 weapon would be good for if im getting charged by something big or a tank rolls in close.

I know that combat squads is a really powerful ability but im not sure how to use it here. could any one give me a good example on when and how to use it?

Or could some one just tell me this list is bad and you should feel bad.

Just a change in your lists write out so it does not look illegal, move the Terminators dedicated Land raider to be with the Terminators

Storm Talon be dropped by Eldar Scatterlaser's, nid Dakkafex, and any other flyer out there. In hover mode the world can bring it down because it is little more than an up gunned skimmer.. If you take all blast weapons the Talon is now useless against other flyers. Have you compared it to a Vendate or a night scyth? The talon is not total garbage, but it is not that great either.

Melta's are S8 not S10, and are a better choice than the power fist these days do to challenges. Tac squads are solid, but I would remove the extra armor from the rhinos.

since you re using the Predators as Pillboxes I would take the points left over and the points saved upgrade atleast one to an Annihilator with the 3 lascannons.

ok so dropping the extra armor from the rhinos would give me 45 points to throw around, IIRC laz cannon for the pred is 60 points? dont have my codex in-front of me.

One thing some one suggested was to turn the rhinos into laz cannon razer backs and split the tac squads into combat squads.

So would you say that stormtallons are even worth it?

I frequently run with a 2k list. And over like 11/12 games i've only lost 1.

Similarly to you, i run 3 troops. If you get a game with a high number of objectives, be sure to protect them. The only difference is that my tactical squads are geared for holding objectives. e.g. I have 1 squad with full plasma (pistol, gun and cannon). then other squad has a Heavy Bolter meltagun and combi-flamer. Flamer/ML/Combi-Melta isn't a bad loadout. On the plus side, it's cheap. You'll have to play around with loadouts, to find your preference.
You could also consider scouts. 10 scouts with snipers and camo cloaks are around 180 points. That'll save points on a rhino, and they are perfectly fine sitting in deployment zone holding an objective.
As barnowl said, remove the extra armour on your rhinos. It's not worth it.

Your LR deathstar is solid. Have you considered a librarian instead of a Chaplain? Null Zone can be a great help. TH ignore armour and Null Zone forces invulns to be re-rolled, you'll power through every unit. Chaplain or Libby are really down to Personal preference. The re-rolls from the chaplain is a great ability to have, and the chappy gets a 4++ invuln (IIRC).

I keep getting told that STs are gak, but i run 2. I feel they bring a solid amount of anti-air. And if played right, they will down enemy fliers and dominate the sky (that what happens in most of my games - YMMV). I find that the rending from the assault cannon causes more pens than the krak missiles, so they are great against all tupes of armour, whether they are in the sky or on the ground.

3 predators are a solid fire base. Set them up to have fire arcs covering most of the board and your sorted.

Possibly spend the left over points being more adventuraous with your tactical squads?

You're going to want a 4th 10 man tac or scout squad at 2k.

Stormtalons are... meh. for 150 id much rather have 3 attack bikes with MMs, you lose some AA power for sure butttt MM attack bikes are super awesome wondersauce.

Id squeeze in a AGL too.

Here's a some changes with a lot more firepower:

HQ - unchanged for now thouugh a termi libby is nice with gatteee....

Troops: 4

Tac squad 1: Flamer, MM, sg with melta bombs: 175
Rhino 1: 35

Tac squad 2: Flamer, MM, sg with melta bombs: 175
Rhino 2: 35

Tac squad 3: ML and PG: 180
Tac squad 4: ML and PG: 180

Elites:

Assault termies: TH/SS - 200 pts
LandRaider: extra armor, Multi melta, detacated transport for assault terms:275

FA:
3 Attack bikes with MM: 150
Stormtalon 1: Typhoon ML: 155

HS:
TFC - 100
Pred 1: AC/LC - 120

Fortification:
AGL with quad gun - 100

if my math is right that's about 10 points over, which you could find somewhere.

Your scoring power: increased by 33%
Maneuverability: increased with the bikes (they can deny after all), and they get to screen for our LR
AA defense: the same if not a touch better due to the more bodies
Horde defense: signifigantly better with the TFC
MC/CC defense: the same
Meq power: more melta, less LC, so id say about the same.

Use razorbacks with lascannons instead of the predators, and put lascannons or missile launchers in your tactical squads, then combat squad them.

You need to take troops anyway, so you might as well spend the points wisely.

Also don't put the point values for stuff on the site, big no no.

3 or 4 Squads work. I currently run 3 Tacs and a Scout with Telion, but if you only want to run 3 Tactical Squads, that'll work.

Chaplains are best run naked, as Cassius, or not at all. 30 points for a slightly better save and one less attack is a pass in my book. For 5 points less than a Termie Chaplain, you get Cassius, who is T6, has FNP, and has a master crafted Combi-Flamer that shoots Hellfire Rounds.

thats understand able with taking cassius, one reason i was taking the generic chaplain with term was for, ill be honest, fluff reasons, making a legion of the damned army and wanted him to be my HQ but i might just change it to cassius, it would be really nice to be able to use a flamer on a group then charge with termies
