You sure can. Orks, more than any other army, give you carte blanche for conversions. The core of their fluff is that they'll fight anyone and loot anything, so bitz from all other armies are fair game, as are many found materials that might look too clunky on a sleeker, higher tech model - scrap is the Ork aesthetic, after all. Orks also range in size, from Gretchin to Boys to Nobs to Warbosses, all the way up to hulking monsters like Ghaz (not to mention the walkers, if you want to do a biological "counts as" model). You'd need a pretty large and unwieldy bit not to be able to find a home for it on an Ork (and even then, it would likely work for a vehicle or terrain).

That said, a Dreadknight arm might be a bit large for an Ork, although it could probably find a home as a suitably killy and unwieldy addition to a dread. Either way, using parts from another army doesn't confer their special rules, unless you're using some special house rules that allow it. You normally treat the converted/replaced weapon as a reasonable counterpart from the Ork codex, e.g. the DCCW in Dr. What's example would likely count as a power klaw, while a big shoota with two extra barrels and a rokkit strapped on top could serve as a Loota's deffgun.

Hmmm and if it's a sword or axe it's just I big choppa? Or slugga

Pretty much use the Orky equivalent of whatever size weapon it is.

For Example:

Grabby things are Klaws
Stabby things are choppas
Big stabby things are Big Choppas
Shooty pistols are sluggas

And so on.

I love orks now lol! And there vocab is the best , so a dread knight arm with sword would be big choppa

Again, probably too large. Melcavuk was simplifying things to convey the general idea - add "considering the size of the base model" to his first sentence for a clearer picture. "Big" is relative. In our particular context, Big Choppas are Nob-scale weapons. Melee weapons that are large for infantry models fit the bill. A DK arm/sword would be so oversized as to be impractical and ridiculous, even by orky modeling standards. That's not to say that I wouldn't do it for a one-off comedy project meant for display, but that's beyond the usual scope.

Dr. What's conversion uses a smaller, more compact part (Dreadnought arm vs. Dreadknight arm and projecting sword) on a larger model than a standard Nob/Warboss, so it works as a "counts as" powerklaw. The DK arm is better scaled to a Deff Dread, counting as a DCCW - the appropriate corollary piece of wargear for that model.

I'd love to see an Ork swinging the Dreadknight sword and flying along behind it from the sheer weight of the weapon over balancing them. Or an ork with a small team of grotz just to raise his sword into "killin posishun"

Here's a warboss I was working on e few years ago. I never quite liked how it turned out so he's now buried in a bitz box somewhere.

Some pics from my blog

My Nobs!

Surprisingly this is the first time that I have ever converted and assembled Nobs in such quantity. And it has to be said that their box set from GW is one of the best available for versatility

So as you can see this is a group shot of the big man himself , the banners give them all some sense of individuality as they directly come from their units once they have become too big to handle!

From the outset I wanted them to be big, bold and beefy! After all they are supposed to be top of the food chain and by the looks of it they are pretty well fed.

As you can see I have glued 2p to their bases to give them more weight see my tutorial.

Tutorial adding much-needed weight to your models and it doesn't cost very much

The one above used an old storm boy nob's head with a face plate glued onto it

Basically with such a project you want to incorporate something unique and in also stands out. You can easily pick up Black reach Nobs on ebay and with simply chopping off arms etc and slight conversions you can easily expand your unit with the bits that are left over from the Nob box set.
