Ok, so I've finally set to work on my Typhus-counts as model, but while I can repose and greenstuff to my hearts content, I have always been bad at shaping a blade with plasticard. I can cut plasticard to shape, but forming the actual cutting edge of a blade always looks horrible. How would you guys suggest I shape the Manreaper blade?

Have you tried gentley and gradually filing the edges down to a point?

I'm embarrassed to admit that no....I hadn't even thought of sanding it down I'm now thinking that my dremel rotary sander wild be perfect for honing the curved scythe blade.

Thanks for answered my question...feeling pretty stupid right now

Dremel rotates too fast to file down plastic. Be careful or the plastic card will melt.

Got milk?

All I can say about painting is that VMC tastes much better than VMA... especially black...

For a typhus model blade, the blade edge doesn't even have to be a nice smooth curve. Nicks, cracks and an uneven edge defines the nurgle blessing as much as anything else.

I'd just use a blade and carefully shave the edge back, then hack at it to roughen it up.

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.

I didn't even mean a rotary file. I was just talking about a little hand file they one would use for mold lines and such.

use a sharp blade and carve it down slightly til you get a close enough shape then scrape it down to make it smooth

Layers! Use thin plasticard in 3 (or more) layers like so:

-------------------
----------------------------
-------------------

...then smooth GS to form the blade bevelled edges:

------------------- GS
----------------------------
------------------- GS

Result: nice smooth blade edges.

But 3 layers of plasticard is really quite thick. You're much better off just filing the edges down. Easy to do with a needle file.

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!

Hah, sorry, ex-Ork player. Thick choppa = good choppa. At least that's what she said...

I'll get my coat...
