Ok, so i am trying to make a 2500 tau force so i can have some variety. I got roughly 1200 points
So im trying to figure out what to get next. Her is my force now
3 crisis suits(one being a commander, the other two tend to be Bodyguards. the Commander has a fusion blaster and a plasma rifle fused to him)
24 Fire warriors
1 stealth suit team.
1 pirahna
x2 broadsides.
1 hammerheaad/skyray(one model)
x2 sniper drone teams(x3 if i proxie other drones)

I know i need at least one more broadside. and maybe 3 more crisis suit.
Also i got leftover bits from firewarriors(legs mostly) so im thinking of making 6 pathfinders. and to field those i need A devilfish.
Help would be appreciated.

Bodybags?

Just kidding, given alot of people think tau is the next codex after darkangels i'd consider holding off buying anything just in case it does not make it into the next codex.

Although rare its been known to happen that a unit in one codex does not carry over to the next.

I would normally recommend more Crisis suits, but they're probably getting redone, so you have to decide if you're willing to wait a little. Otherwise, another broadside or another hammerhead. I would recommend the latter.
Also, for your Piranha to be useful, you have to buy at least another one. Make it so you can remove the wings and use them as Forgeworld Tetras.

I dont want to use tetras, I just want to get meat of the the army until the codex comes outs.

But here's the problem we dont know what the "meat" of the army will be in the new codex so cant really advise you, you've already got quite a few fire warriors and everything else is open to change.

Buy the Tetras. Markerlights are one of the defining features of the Tau, and it's a safe bet that they're not going anywhere. And since Tetras are by far the most efficient markerlight source in the Tau army it's also a safe bet that Tetras will continue to be awesome.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.

3 Bs?
Also I suppose another Hammerhead could be nice.

Throwing new codex rumors out of the process I'd ask what do you want your army to do more? Do you need more scoring options? Do you want more tank busting options? Do you want marker lights? In other words when you play right now with your army what do you find you wish you had more of in your games? If you play a lot of meq armies maybe you need more suits.

Another option might be to ask your opponent if they mind you proxying some fw's and your hammerhead to try out pathfinders so you can see how they work. After a game or two you might decide pathfinders are the bee's knees and you really want them in your army, or you might find that they're too squishy and hard to work with so you don't want anything to do with them. To get a good feel for all of the benefits of pathfinders you might want to try and deep strike your crisis suits to see how you like using the d-fish to re-roll scatter dice.

2-3 Battleforces (or 2-3 more boxes of Firewarriors, 2-3 more Battlesuits, and whatever mix of Stealth Suits and Kroot you may want), 1 Broadside, 1 Skyray kit will expand your army quite solidly.

Basically, Commander, 4-6 squads of Firewarriors, 2-3 squads of suits, 2 Railheads and 3 Broadsides is a great core, then expand into Pathfinders / Tetras / Pirahnas.

I agree with Peregrine get Tetras.

otherwise at least 4 more Broadsides
24 more fire warriors
and some Fish bodies (magnets + turrets = whatever you want at the time).

In all seriousness, I would recommend more tanks. The Jink save combined with pods giving a 3+ save when you move is amazing. Railgun HH can dish out damage and your DF can keep the FW alive and do some decent killing.
So buy 2 Skyray boxes. That way you can run the tanks as either DF, HH, or Skyrays.

If you want to buff your core, then just buy more of what you have least of. One thing you could do is get enough models to field two whole squads of every core choice.

Outside of that, I can't see broadsides getting nerfed, I could be wrong but they're like the leman russes of the tau. Semi iconic, prolly in third place behind fire warriors and crises suits. Get more of those. They're also terrifying to just about everything they shoot at.

Again outside of that, you can get stuff that you think just looks cool. Piranhas always seemed neat to me.
