My idea tank has been running on empty these past couple of days, and I just can't seem to shake the funk of doing the same models over and over again. so I'm turning to Dakka for anyone with any ideas of what I could do for my samurai orks that I haven't already done. anyone who has any part of Japanese history or culture that they really like, I'd like to hear from you. post some pic or some links, or just tell me about something and I'll see if I can base a model around it. beggars can't be choosers so I'll try not to shoot down any ideas, so let your muse of choice take you where ever you want to go.

the orks are the oni, but that does give me an idea for big choppas: Kanbo, and an idea for a nine tailed squig.

Cavalcade Wargames has a whole range of Japanese themed Orcs, Trolls and Goblins sculpted by Bob Olley:

Legend of the Five Rings has a lot of Japanese themed miniatures, including some Goblins and Oni in the Shadowlands faction:

Rackham also produced now OOP Ashigaru goblins and one pack of Oni themed Ogres/Trolls.
Troll Forged has a handful of Mongoblins, but the program stopped when Troll Forged production slowed to a crawl.

Thanks for the suggestion, but the style doesn't quite jive with what I'm using. also those are a little to fantasy styled for my tastes. although I appreciate the help.

Secret Weapon Miniatures also offer a range of bases that would look cool with a samurai-theme army... I believe they are call "Asain Garden" or something along those lines. They are beautiful bases, too.

once again thanks. but I'm more looking for something I can build not something I can buy. I'm looking for ideas for models to make, like some kind of vehicle or some theme for a unit.
as a side note anyone have any ideas how I could make a KFF for a meka dread made from a regular dread?

Could do a battle fortress or whatever that thing is in apoc. the huge moving building? Could make it look like a japanese temple that crawls/has tracks
makes me think of the film howl's moving castle, or something like that.
I think some artillery would be well suited. Gun powder toting grots and kannons with umbrellas / hats etc
I think you already have ninjas going for you, the idea for the grot artillery could translate into lootas as well and kind of make those units a little more cohesive looking in the army if you choose to do both.
As far as the KFF thing goes.... remember the movie teenage mutant ninja turtles 3? WHen they time travel to japan? The scepter/light thing that transports them (to me) would be a good basis to be attached to the back of something in alarge scale for a KFF generator
Could try mega nobs in heavier looking samurai armor with double katanas as the fingers on their power klaws?
Could have ammo runts and grot orderlies carrying swords, helmets, masks, as well?
Weird boy with a fu man chu would be cool! I suppose you could fu man chu up just about anyone though!

Which TMNT movie? Those were either before my time or after my time. Do you have a picture?

when they transport and what not it glows blueish and has lighting effects in the room or something. seemed fitting (if i recall correctly)

When you said Samurai Orks, I thought Fantasy Orcs. Didn't know you wanted a medieval themed SciFi tank army.
