I ordered some brushes from Rosemary and Co - Series 98 - Size 6, 2, 0. The 6 and all three 2's are not behaving. They arrived with the cover on, but with it pushing some bristles down which I didn't think ideal at the time. Now that I've tried to use them they don't keep good tips, some bristles go AWOL and I'm better off using a manky old brush that I wanted to replace. I love the series 98 handle and the hairs themselves and general construction seem top quality, but they're pretty unusable as is. Are they redeemable with some brush care or should I hit up the company?

Ring the company, for sure.

Brushes shouldn't arrive with the covers damaging the bristles.

I am currently taking commissions.

Sounds like a strange problem. If the items arrived damaged due to packing definitely give them a call. I have only good experiences with them

Call the company. Once the hairs have dried in place its next to impossible to get them to straighten back out.

I've managed to fix a few stray hairs by leaving some Masters brush soap in to dry as a tip shaper. A bit of hair conditioner can help soften them up, beforehand, but you really need something that will keep them in place for a while to try and reset their position. If they're really kinked, your only option is to clip them off and make do with what remains. Since the rest of the brush tip doesn't seem to be behaving properly, either, I'd get in touch with the company if basic care doesn't sort it out - they may not be salvageable at all, or, at the very least, not worth the effort when you've paid for a quality brush.

Thanks for the advice guys. I'll take some pics for the company, then try some basic brush care again. If that doesn't yield results I'll hit them up for some advice or replacements.

Shame, the brushes really do seem good quality, just a few more seconds to properly place the covers on after assembly and they would have been fine : (

Took a photo of the brushes, with my main workhorse below it for comparison. This is with wetting then flicking the brushes over my finger a few times to simulate a little wear, but not as bad as they get whilst painting. A couple of the rosemary brushes have substantially shorter bristles too. Ahh well, will shoot them a mail to see what they say.
