Since Terminator are all modeled with searchlights shouldn't they be able to use them?

In the story fluff TDA was designed to board spacecraft so it would be reasonable that they needed searchlights to light there way.

So it think they should FAQ Seachlights as part of Terminator armor does anyone else agree?

No. Fluffwise SMs have enhanced vision and can see in near-total darkness anyway. Plus, PA and TDA have incoperated vision enhancers. Even without the searchlight they could see in pitch blackness.

And they don't need yet another bonus.

It would give them some synergy with the rest of the army; and actually give the Termies a downside other than the cost; since your opponent can 'see' any active searchlight in turn.

Fluffwise, there are still situations where even the mighty Space Marines can't see unaided.

I agree, if they can see perfectly in darkness why don't they have Night Vision like the Dark Eldar?

Unreliable hardware? Imperfect night-vision devices?

Why is this an issue that needs patching, anyway? Do you play a lot of total-darkness games?

I don't see the point of putting searchlights on a model and not letting them be used.

What armies do not have vision enhancers like this? Tau buy it separately and normal humans (IG and Sisters of Battle I guess) do not have them and certain Tyranid beasts. Every other faction has low or no light vision (Craftworld Eldar have this in their helmets along with a complete minimalistic heads up display with friend or foe system and more). Would make night fighting pretty pointless if everyone got nightvision based on fluff.

It's not a drawback, it's a tremendous tactical advantage that only becomes a drawback in the hands of the incompetent. You don't have to use searchlights, it's an optional action.

I really need to stay away from the 40K forums.

Then why is Night Fighting even in the game? It is the future, after all, and even current day soldiers have access to FLIR goggles and other night vision devices. The only "darkness" that makes sense is the technological one brought on by the Necron Solar Pulse, because that would be so bright it would overload night vision/blind you temporarily.

Serch lights are desinged fo tanks that kan take a pounding you can't move serch lights as they are stainary objects

Mabey serch lites on thuner fire cannons or as a unit mand by a tech priest or techmarine but it would crush a termie just because they can survive the heart of a plasma genorater dose not meen they can carry a surche light tanks or deuicated serch light unit

Well terminators are modeled with rather small searchlights an example is the new DA hero which GW themselves list in his bio that he has searchlights three of them in fact mounted on top of his TDA which are fancy versions of what standard terminators are modeled with.

To the vehicle comment SM Apothecary models have big searchlights almost the same size minus the housing i guess I'll add them to list to.

And to the stationary objects comment they would not be searchlights if they could not well "search" just watch the Ultramarine movie to see the before mentioned Apothecary swivel his searchlight to look for enemy forces.

Lastly SPELL-CHECK use it.
