Hi guys,

This is the first of two Contemptor dreadnoughts for my Adeptus Custodes army (counts as Grey Knights).

His weapons represent twin linked autocannons, but compared to the regular ones these have a more brutal and raw look.
I think they look more appropriate for a pre heresy army.

Please share your thoughts!

That is one sweet looking Dread! The Relic Contemptor body really suits a Custodes Ancient!

The pose is awkward. Heavy guns like that should 'hang' under the shoulders and have no reason to be extended out as they are. That would be hard to maintain and stressful wear on a robot frame like that.

And the rocky base, I guess it is cinematic. The thing is, the raised base with unnaturally awkward arms screams MFA as if you intend to hide behind a rhino and shoot over it while claiming cover without being obstructed.

MFA = fail. So I hope that was not incorporated into the design.

I agree with nkelsch that the arms are a little too high (on second glance).

However, I think that the rest of the criticism was unwarranted.

I think the pose and the rocks both look cool, and it doesn't seem at all modeled for advantage-- given the thought you put in to it, seems completely legit.

Guns are the dreadknight psilencers indeed. A little modified to be honest.

Concerning the critiscism.
Since I did not order any arms I had to think of a way to attach the guns, and this was the easiest. I needed only a triangular piece of sprue to connect the arm and the gun.
If you don't like it that's perfectly fine.
Just explained you my reasons.

And the base is certainly not made to get any advantage out of it.
Think of it. What if there is no Rhino of mine behind which I could get cover?
Then I have a disadvantage because the regular terrain will be too low to get any saves.
The whole reason was a nice pose.
I think that worked out. Just compare it with this exciting pose:

I do think the guns would look better hung under the arms, that would only require a little modification to the resin shoulders. The MFA argument is ridiculous, if that's what people now worry themselves about I'm glad I don't play 40K any more.

Howard:
Maybe I find a better way to attach them. Hadn't had enough patience yesterday to think of another solution.

I don't care about the MFA accusations. The main reason for me to build this army are the modelling possibilities, and since I mainly play against good friends I'm not worried at all.

Hi guys,

Your constructive critique has encouraged me to make a few changes to this model.
I hope you like it.

Agreed, maybe something to fill in around those spacers, but good changes.

I'd shorten the posts they're stuck on. It looks odd having the long peg. Maybe two more disk shaped pieces stacked together?

I could definitely improve it even further, but that's not the priority for now.
Thank you nevertheless!
