I don't know about you, but some things just have a penchant for attracting dust or eyelashes into my eyes thus eliciting a totally involuntary and quite manly welling of tears to fight of the offending particles. I know most of the fine forum posters here in the OT eat danger and gak victory and all that, but REAL men save the little kitten while walking away from the explosions. So post up your guilty pleasures.

Ever since watching We Were Soldiers, I can't listen to this song without something getting stuck in my eye...

I'll admit it. If I'm alone and this song just happens to mysteriously appear on youtube or in my iTunes, I sing right along.

So the gauntlet is thrown, Dakka. What gets you every time? Doesn't have to be a song or a video... could be a gesture or seeing two really old people holding hands while walking down the street. It's almost Valentine's Day dammit so let's spread the love.

How anyone could like bagpipe music is beyond me.

It sounds like a cross between strangling a cat and Celine Dion and makes up part of Hell's Jazz ensemble IMNSHO (the others being Recorder, piano accordion, banjo and a vocalist accompanying with autotune support).

A bright light in my right eye will make me tear up, though. So will a wind gust or it just being tired. Movies and music don't make me tear up. They might bring goosebumps or a frisson of joy, but no tears.

Spoiler:
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Author unknown...

Also this, because anytime i listen to it, it still gives me hope that I will find someone.

As a soldier who has been through far too many military memorials down range, I absolutely CANNOT listen to the song "Amazing Grace", especially played on the bagpipes.

Probably for a similar reason, if I am at a sporting event and our national anthem is played, I may get slightly choked (no where near like Amazing Grace though)

And finally... and admit it guys, the movie Rudy. One of only two sports movies that will choke me up, and I'll admit it. Plus side is, you cannot have your Man Card revoked for tearing up at Rudy. In the Man Law Congress, I shall be introducing a bill that adds "Trouble with the Curve" to the list of "acceptable for men to cry at movies"

I've never seen Rudy, but I know Field of Dreams tops my list of movies I tear up at.

And, every now and then, this song gets to me:

"Through the darkness of future past, the magician longs to see.

Yep, that did it. Come to think of it, several episodes of Futurama have that effect on me. The Luck of the Fryish episode's ending, the newer one where we find out about the very special link between Hermes and Bender, and the one where Leela learns her parents' true identity all get to me a bit. None quite so much as the instance you posted, but they still rank up there.

The ending of that episode where Leela finds her parents is nice.

Spoiler:

That's what I like about Groening's Cartoons, they always have nice/touching moments in them from time to time. There are a fair few in the older SImpsons Episodes, although some of the newer ones do have their moments.

The music from the ending of Mother Simpsons is nice too, I think coupled with Homer's child like qualities makes it sadder.
