So GW has just added to its website these "one click deals" basicly bundle deals one problem with this is GW haven't added a price discount for these deals wow good job guys
and just look at the prices
AUS $287/US $175.25 for 17 "Finecast" The Legion of the Damned
AUS $194/US $120 for the Heroes of the Space Marines (Marneus Calgar, Pedro Kantor, Darnath Lysander, Korsarro Khan, Vulkan He'stan and Kayvaan Shrike) that only 6 finecast models
there are others but those are the stand outs.

PS. US vs AUS prices so much Bull there

come GW you need to fix this.

I like to call them "Hey have you considered switching to a new game yet?" deals

Yep, GW hopes you're stupid enough to buy them. The sad thing is they're probably right.

I don't think you guys understand how much these deals can benefit is all.

Trying to place an order in under 2 minutes because there is a bomb strapped to your computer and set to blow? Problem solved.

In the path of a tornado and need to get all those models before getting to the shelter? Thank you, GW. You just saved the whole family.

Trying to win a bet to see who can order all the legion of the damned models the fastest? I think you all get the idea.

I'm expecting an Imperial Knights supplement dedicated to GW's loyalist apologetics. Codex: White Knights "In the grim dark future, everything is fine."

"The argument is that we have to do this or we will, bit by bit,
lose everything that we hold dear, everything that keeps the business going. Our crops will wither, our children will die piteous
deaths and the sun will be swept from the sky."

I'm gonna assume these bundles are here to stay, because the Chaos Marines release had them too. ^^ Also, if I remember right, one of the complete sets of paints offtered something like 25 cents off. Not 25 cents off per paint, just 25 cents off the 500+ dollar purchase. So basically, if you were never going to use even one of the paints, you were better off just buying the paints individually as you needed them.

Just ignore the bundles if you're not going to use them. It's not like they're forcing you to buy a bundle if you only want one or two of the boxes in them.

Edit: Of course, this is coming from the guy who bought a box of PAGK for a single power spear (they call it a halberd, I call it a glaive), and routinely buys Space Wolf Pack boxes just for 2 of the heads contained within. The only redemption is that I usually end up kitbashing random models out of all the unused parts. Like, for example, I used the Grey Knight bodies, falchions and heads with some Space Wolf, Blood Angel, and Vanilla Marine parts to make some Honor Guard.

Yeah, that's the point where I'd go, ". . . Okay, Games Workshop. I love your chainsaw swords and your warrior-nuns and your Tau katamaries, but if you make models I'd like to buy and won't make them reasonably available, I'm going to have to sacrifice my support of my local store, and just find an online retailer that'll divvy up the parts of the megaboxes and sell them in their raw components, and buy the stuff I need from them."

Also, the ones around here have black shirts for some reason.

And I mean no ill will to those guys, they have a really stressful job and insane goals, so of course they're going to be pushy with sales.

Fair point...

But I still don't think they'd take it to the extent of an 800 dollar bundle to get a miniscule number of things you need a lot of to make an effective list. That would be beyond the point of silliness. I can't imagine even a people pleaser spending 800 dollars to appease their kid, and I have two of them for parents.

More reasonably, I'd expect GW to maybe include a single character to the bundles. A unique model with some nifty features, but one that could be used as a random normal sergeant with legitimate wargear and stuff. And of course, jack up the cost of the bundles by about 10 dollars for an infantry model, more for bigger stuff. And of course, theme it to the bundle - so a Deathwing Sergeant guy for the Deathwing bundle, as an example.

I'd go for something like that if I was interested in the models in the bundle and also the special model. I certainly did with the Dark Vengeance starter set - my local GW had a LE one sitting on the shelves, so I spent the 8 extra dollars and got that instead of the normal one I went in to get. Mainly because I wanted the Chaplain's smokestacks for a particular model, but I might've done it anyways. I messed up though. I could've clipped the smokestacks off at the top of the pack and glued it on a normal backpack. Instead, I chopped up the entire back of the model - because the backpack is one piece with like half the whole model - to get it down to just the backpack, and didn't think about it until a couple of hours or maybe days later. Kicked myself hard for that one.

I used to buy stuff at my FLGS too. ^^

Then one day I discovered the mixed blessing of having a store that has both old AND new stuff on the same shelves. The advantage is that it can be fun to go in and see if they have any nifty stuff - found an OOP Canoness there once. Mutilated her without realizing she was OOP, in trying to convert her. The downside of having old stuff on the shelves is that I occasionally confuse it for new stuff. Thus, I ended up with a box of metal/plastic devastators, instead of the vastly more diverse all-plastic ones. Felt terrible when I realized it, which naturally was only after I'd already opened the box.

It's a real shame, because my FLGS is so, so very much closer to my house than the GW. But after that mess with the Devastators, I was like, "Enh, screw it, I'll just shop at GW."

My puzzlement with their bundles is their stance regarding said bundles that they don't discount their miniatures. Yet they mention Battleforces and Megaforces as a "value-added" example. Which, in effect, are discounted. Generally 20% less for a Battleforce than buying the kits separately. What is that if not a discount, so why can't bundles have a slight discount? It makes no sense.

I mean I don't really mind in that I can buy 'em separately just fine, but their stance seems illogical given the existence of the *forces. Of course I shouldn't say anything, lest they raise the Battleforce prices!

Ork battleforce is quite a bit cheaper...

Trukk: $37US
Bikes: $41US
2 Boyz: $58US
Total: $138US

Yet the battleforce is $110US

Discount things do exist from GW, yet they still claim they dont. Kinda funny that ive bought 4 of these things so far since it has everything i want for CHEAPER than normal. If i dont want boyz anymore (which i hit that wall for the time being) i use the bodies to make custom lootas n such.

An ork with an idea tends to end with a bang.

Like I said, ~20% off. 37+41+58 is actually 136, and 0,8*136 is 108,8. So it's like 19,1% cheaper from buying separately (110/136 = ~0,8088).

I also got two Ork Battleforces. The guys at the LGS said it's a bad Battleforce, but when I needed boys and bikes anyway, and the trukk ended up costing like 10 euros compared to buying just the boys and bikes... hardly a difficult choice to make, since trukks can still be quite useful.

One of the only truly good battleforces, since a trukk gives you parts to make pretty much any vehicle in the ork army. Battlewagons, looted wagons, trukks, buggies, you name it. If you're halfway decent with plasticard you can do all kinds of awesome things with that battleforce.

You would want to, but these bundled offers are just so super-awesome-cool(!!!!!!!!) that they are only available direct from GW, as are the components that make them up. What is more convenient than our bundles of things you don't need with no discounts? The ability to only order them ever from a single place, US, to avoid any confusion and misconceptions that you can buy them separately that might be introduced by crafty, non-GW online sellers.

I shop at my FLGS and other dealers merely because I refuse to give GW 100% of the profit if I don't have to. Buying through other sellers means GW just gets their wholesale price for the item. Just can't bring myself to buy from them completely after the way they shafter online discount retailers to boost their own online sales site.

As for the devastators that was a mea culpa moment. You assumed you knew what you were picking up, but if you shook the box a little it would have been clear it wasn't just plastic sprues. No point in kowtowing to GW just because you made an honest mistake. Now that it has happened you will be wiser in the future and your FLGS is still a better option. I love finding out of the way "new to me" game stores that have old 40k and WFB blisters still on the wall. Can find some cool old figs and often the price increases have not been applied to the blisters either.

Look, I appreciate what you're trying to do, but there's a number of reasons why I don't want to shop there for 40k stuff normally.

The old stuff on the shelves is one. Another is the very limited selection. I think the couch I'm sitting on is as wide as their entire GW section on the wall, including mostly 40k stuff, some WHFB stuff, and rarely LotR stuff. Another is the sign on the cash register which says, "No returns or exchanges," which leads me to believe they won't respond amicably if parts are missing from a kit I buy there. I could get around the lack of selection by placing an order, but that often takes long enough that I could've ordered it from an online retailer. And if I did that, it might cost less even with the shipping and customs duties, because my FLGS has no discounts on GW stuff anymore.

Bottom line is, I'm willing to let my wallet get shafted by GW for the pure convenience, despite what GW has been doing to online retailers and bitz makers. And no, I don't feel good about it.

But you would also get that benefit if you just ordered them all as separate items on the same order too. I do have to admit to getting hit with "oooooo shiny!!!" syndrome when the chaos release hit and foolishly ordered the bundle just "because", but I was able to get over it before the DA stuff appeared. I am, sadly, a big sucker for cool new chaosy stuff. I do have 5 chaos themed 40k armies these days, so it is no surprise.

No worries. Not trying to make you feel bad about it. Just stating my opinion on the not wanting to give GW more than I have to. I have much more disposable income these days than I did when I first started playing Rogue Trader eons ago, but still like to maximize the bang for my buck as it were. Getting harder with the whole finecast thing as few of my favorite sources for GW minis actually being able, despite their volume, to sell the finecast. Also my local stores either don't carry any GW anymore, or they also are not offering much by way of finecast kits either. Annoying when I *have* to order from GW, so I definitely do understand your pain. Didn't immediately see the canadian flag either and that definitely impacts your baseline prices along with your mail order options too. I have a good source online for any GW plastics at 20% with a set $5 charge for shipping on large orders here in the US which makes things a little easier to avoid with GW. Did recently order a few finecast pieces, though, and that hurt paying full price on GW's site. At least I was able to stack my order enough to make sure I got the free shipping too. A bit bummed since GW moved out of the Maryland area too. Used to be I could place a weborder in the morning and by the next afternoon it was on my front porch, even with basic shipping. Not anymore though. :(

What I can see GW doing is the future is having only bundles but if you want just 1/a certain number of items in the bundle without buying the whole thing, you have to manually delete it from the list in your cart.

This way they hope people will make a mistake while buying or just be too lazy.

They're just hoping that if you make a scam a "one click affair" that it will remove those fussy inhibitions against getting scammed. Getting scammed is just so hard these days; if only there was an easier way!

No, I didn't.

I'm just saying that if you wanted 3 boxes of infantry and 3 transports, if you went all the way through checkout and bought each of them independently 6 different times, then you would save on shipping if you all bought them in a single package.

Look for GW deciding not to pool shipping on single orders containing multiple items soon.

Some of the bundles make sense, such as the Drop Pod Assasult, but the Legion of the Damned bundle makes so sense to me. £104.50 for 17 models, not only is it an odd price, but it's an odd number. People are still going to want to beef it out with 3 more models.

And free shipping here is £10.

It's not like they're forcing you to buy a bundle if you only want one or two of the boxes in them.

Shut up! Don't give them any ideas!

"Oh so you want some guardsmen? Don't worry, we sell those in the mega (Tm) battle (tm) force (Tm) with all the finecast (tm) characters(tm), 3 squads of ratlings (tm), and 9 sentinels (tm)!"
"Cool, how much is it?"
"$800"
"How many guardsmen do I get?"
"Ten, and they're snap fit, so they're easier to assemble!"
"Can't I buy them seperately? You know, for cheaper?"
*Redshirt hisses and returns to its den*

I've had a redshirt recommend snap-fit termagaunts to me when I mentioned buying the box set (for a friend, I don't collect 'nids).

If GW decided not to pool shipping on items containing multiple orders - I can't say they would get any more of my business.

Especially considering there are bitz sites that evidently strip down new kits and pull out the sprues and bitz that people want and resell those, and there are also online retailers that sell at a 10-20% discount over list price. So the bitz sites would make even more sense in that scenario because if they sell a "one click bundle" the third party retailer could strip the box and sell me just Lysander, or just the Sternguard veterans, or whatever. The only thing that makes sense in using GW for online orders is their free shipping as it is. It's a real convenience thing and it's a nice little surprise at check out.

I remember when someone said this on their FB announcement of the bundle. Gw said.
"Name. if you noticed, the megadeal and the wall of matyrs we sold in december where great deals and high quality. We do not offer discounts on our products.
