Hello, coming back to the world for wh40k after 14-15 years abscence. I'm 29 today and haven't assembled or painted a single model since I was like 14. A few months back I decided to start with this hobby again. I've collected Tyranids, Chaos and Space Wolves earlier when I was in the hobby, so now I'm going for Blood Angels.

I remember the pic on the box of the 2nd ed 40k starter box, with a big red Blood Angels captain, that was the first time I laid eyes on 40k. It's really not that good of a picture but for some reason I love it. From that day I always wanted to collect a Blood Angels army. In my opinion it's the chapter of all the space marines chapters that can really say 'we are mankind's finest warriors'. In my eyes they are the true Angels of Death.

So, what I'm I going for with my army? Well, if you read the current BA codex, and skip to page 12 'They have centuries in which to perfect the disciplines to which they turn their minds. This accounts for the fact that the Blood Angels' armour and banners are amongst the most ornate of all the Space Marines'. That got me thinking, space marine models are pretty boring (I'm talking about the standard plastic marines). So how to make each model look really unique? Well, first I started with buying lots of death company and sanquinary guards kits, add some command squad bits and just start putting stuff together.

My goal with this army is to try and make each model stand out. I'm tired of all regular infantry guys that all look the same. When it comes to extra bling etc, my moto is in no way 'less is more' but rather 'more is not enough'.

I intend to end up with about 3000 pts, it will not be an optimized army when it comes to gaming. For example, I really like tac squads, however there is really no point getting them for BA:s when you can take AS marines instead. In my army I will have 2 tac squads of 10 men because they look awesome and really brings me back to 2nd-3rd edition.

Goal for the coming weeks:
1 tac squad, 10 models
1 assault squad, 10 models
5 terminators (space hulk minis ofc, with stormbolter+pfist, screw boring thunder hammers and storm shields!)

Color? All will be done with airbrush, and I'm going for about the same look as Eggroll's Blood Angels (which look awesome and you should REALLY check them out if you haven't seen them yet, link at bottom).

Armour colors that will be used:
Primer - Vallejo Air, Hull Red
Base - Vallejo Air, Fire Red
First highlight - Vallejo Model Color, Transparent Red
Second highlight - Vallejo Model Color, Bloody Red
Linings - Vallejo Black Ink

***
I've done a few members of the first tac squad, will upload pics soon... no painting yet!

Some pic spam of my first BA tac squad. Will add a guy with flamer and a few more with bolters.

The captain with stormbolter and pfist isn't done yet, thinking of what to add. The marine throwing the grenade will have his stance changed a little bit, so he is more leaned over... looks like he's trying to jump straight up right now.

Comments? Should I add/remove something?

Looking pretty good so far. They are certainly ornate enough and you have a good variety of dynamic poses, each squad member seems to have a fairly unique role. What are your plans for the banner?

One minor suggestion that I might make is about the drum mags. I think that they look great however if you look at pictures 2 & 15 they are mounted on the bolters in different ways. For continuity you might want to have them all fitted the same.

Looking good man. I'm liking the guy with the banner as I had a model very similar years ago

Also loving that you've drilled your bolters Great stuff, looking forward to seeing the paint jobs.

Thanks man, hm dunno yet about the banner, I'm thinking of doing something simple with it.. like a big red blood drop and some scripture, will be done with airbrush tho, I'm not that confident with freehand yet.

About the drum mags I agree, however tho they are 2 different types of drum mags but i really understand what you mean, would probably be better overall with the same type.

Yeah, I think he's my favorite so far. Will probably have more banners and standards than needed in the army, just looks cool. And yes, always drill those bolters! Really does alot for the models.

Next up, painting. Will focus on 5 guys each session. As soon as my new brushes show up, 'winsor&newton triple 0' incoming.

These are good looking. I like the way you have added various details to these models and made them personal, that is very cool.
