Hey guys I am hoping to see if anyone knows what the biggest 40k tank battle is? I want to run one at the local store but cant find any of those "Massive" games out there so hopefully some ones got links pic or whatever

1. Put everything you own with an armor value on a gym floor
2. Move said armor valued things around, making 'pew pew' noises
3. ???
4. Profit!

Seriously, though. 'Tanks battles' is just that. Maybe you want to look around for the 'Spearhead' ruleset?

And, by the way - 6mm is the only way for real tank warfare.

Not sure if this helps; but the bunkers over the last few years have thrown "tanksgiving" on thanksgiving. They were just a bring anything with an armor value or a MC to the table and have a go.

Most games of Appoc are won by whoever has the most tanks in his collection.


We had one game once where the Imperial side had around 25 LRBTs(of various types), 5 Baneblade varients, and a handful of Space Marine tanks too.

Ever heard of "Tanks-giving" my old LGS used to hold one every year (right before or after thanksgiving), the winner got a prize. (sorry for the lack of pics...)

i had 3 BWs go at it with 2 land raiders once - we spent 3 turns of failing dice before anything happened, and it was an intervene from my MANz that finally made something happen not the tanks lol

That's the kind of place where the set-piece battles are, big official events.

GW did a big armoured warfare day a few years ago. It wa a synchronised store event and they got stupid numbers involved, but I can't remember any details.

Apparently they don't muck around with that 'terrain' crap at Toronto Gamesday.

I saw a megabattle (4 on 1) at my local game store a while back with twenty or so tanks fielded on the 4-man side. (They still lost...)

"Parking lot vs parking lot" battles with 10 or more armored vehicles on each side were frequent at my FLGS all over 5th. Since 6th hit, mechanized battlegroups seem to have magically disappeared, though.

Bikes and TEQs (fliers haven't really caught on amongst my peers) rule the tables now.

We did a 25,000 pt Apoc battle when the rules first came out and it was something silly on the numbers of tanks involved, easily in the 30s, if not even more.

The few ive seen/heard of where first player lost was because he was dicking around and/or goofed horribly.

I'd love to see a tank battle in a 5x5 meter arena with enough terain ruins in the middle to be a hive and a few pillboxs scattered about inside and out (say 10). Has to be about a 20,000 point (or less) battle so you can have infantry to.

At least 3 players, two attacking seprately and not allied and the defender limited to 10,000 points (advantage of terain). Time limit of 2 hours 3 tops with the objectives being to take the square in the middle of the hive and hold for 10 minutes or destroying the the defenders or who has the most kills. Defenders win no matter what if they hold the square and survive the time limit.

Que epic imagination and a want to play this game now.

We had an Apoc game with a Reaver Titan, 3 Baneblades, 2 Eldar Cobras, and two other Super Heavy IG tanks. I think it was 17 or 18k per side.

Good times. 80% of the crap was destroyed!
