Okay, So today I bought some Greenstuff. First time working with it I wanted to fill some spaces in the hopes of the railgun on my Tau Hammerhead actually sitting straight instead of flopping down...

Anyway, I bought greenstuff, but now I see that I have way more then I needed for this little project. So the question becomes. Whats the best way to store Greenstuff?

And I apologize in advance if this gets asked over and over, I just couldn't find a topic that was already started.

I like to say I have two armies: Necrons, and Imperium.....

As free from dirt and grime as possible, and at room temperature. it's not terribly fussy stuff, just make sure you have the blue and yellow separated (if you bought the small strip, if you got the tubes then you're good)

I personally have the two tubes stored in their own plastic baggies...just to be extra sure.

I got the tube (much better packaging method - none of that chunky, half-cured putty in the middle to worry about) and also put the two parts into separate zip-top plastic bags. Mostly, this makes access easier, as the ends weren't covered completely (had little foil disks to keep them from touching and curing, but they shift with the pliable putty) and they kept sticking to the tube caps. Really, though, BrotherVord is right - you just need to keep them clean and separate. Nothing fancy.

If you are refering to what to do with the mixed green stuff (so a green glob of putty and not the yellow and blue sections) then you sadly there is no way to keep it fresh and workable for any amount of time.
Once its mixed you can't stop it hardening. Not at least any way i know of.

If you are however refering to the seperate parts then yes, an area free of dirt and dust is the way to go when storing it.

How long does it take to harden? Just got some myself and have never used it before.

Put it in the freezer (un-mixed) to keep it fresh.

Also I've started taking photos to use as reference for weathering which can be found here. Please send me your photos so they can be found all in one place!!

I think it's 24 hours to fully cure, maybe 2 hours to be touch-dry. Depends on how evenly you've mixed it.

This. When I leave my green stuff out it turns into a sticky mess and is really hard to work with. Chuck it in the freezer, take it out when you need it and let it thaw out in your hands.

If left out in the summer, it turns into a very sticky blu-tack like paste that is impossible to model with.

Also a trick I use for making custom bases is to put small rocks on a base, heat the greenstuff into a liquid and pour it onto the base. it will harden on the rocks, and make a lunar-landscape type appearance.

If we win we win, if we die we die fighting so it don't count. If we runs for it we don't die neither, cos we can come back for annuver go, see!

In its original packaging.

Seriously, I've just kept it wrapped in that cellophane it comes in and closed the clam shell tight. No problems.

To hold the hammerhead railgun up, drill a hole in the turret, the put a length of paperclip in the railguns 'socket'.
You now have a removable, adjustable railgun.
I can post pics on how in the morning if you want. :p

I've had my current greenstuff for about 6-7 years, as I bought a tube and only use it for small projects like gaps and resculpting basic details. I keep each color in a zip-lock baggie, and just pinch off portions as I need it. Still works perfectly fine.
