Hi fellow dakka lovers. For the longest time i've fancied making some Sons Of Horus, but as a married father of four and currently being kerb stamped by the british triple dip recession i can't really afford Forge World prices. So i thought Luna Wolves c'thonian wolves why not use Space Wolves and naughty them up.I slowly amassed a good few mini's and stripped some of my old stuff and with a little kitbashing i got started.
So here is what i've managed to do in the last few weeks, please wade in with the criticism/advice as it's all appreciated. For some reason i don't think these photo's do my paintjob justice but here goes any way.

I think they look great man, I don't really follow the fluff much so this may be a stupid questions, but is the green colour meant to be verdigris on their armour, or a worn paint finish? Either way, I think they look excellent!

It is supposed to be the color of the legion.I used a sponge to apply chips to the paint. In my mind i see these as a splinter group that were caught in a warp storm and flung far across the galaxy. They have only just emerged into imperial space and are picking up where they left off 10000 years before.I see their kit as being a mish mash of armour taken from vanquished foes and a mix of chaos enfused wargear.

They look great, some nice simple conversions to add the Chaos theme to Wolves. I would only suggest a heavier wash on faces and weapons, plain silver isn't enough IMHO but YMMV.

I pretty much finished this little bad boy last night.there may be the odd thing to touch up but being the butterfly that i am i jump around between projects (it seems to help stave off burn out)

Here is a sneeky shot of what else i'm currently working on.A Heldrake a Rhino and a custom Lego quad bike.

They look really nice, you got the green colour just right

Also, don't get annoyed if nobody replies, it's the same for all of us :(

Sisters of Battle can be used in any game, with the exception of chess, Monopoly and of course, Warhammer 40,000.

After 8 editions, you might have thought that GW could get fantasy right.

Nope, it's just cliquey round here. I know how you feel.
I like what you're doing, the Terminators have some excellent weathering. Good use of that Chapter, they look nicely savage for the SoH.

I like the use of the DV set for your Sons of Horus. They seem to be "in vogue" right now too - a year ago, it was the 1K sons. Yours are set apart by the fact that you use the chaos ones, rather than go pre-heresy sets like the rest of them.

For the bases- I suggest going "all-out". I love the snow and blood, and I started out my Tyranids the same way after I got back into the hobby - very sparse with a concrete detail here or there. They were so-so, but my main regret is that they could have been much more in terms of scenic story-telling without dipping farther into my pockets. (Example? Check out some of the other 'nid blogs here - holy Christ... )

Overall though- love the weathering, love the Sons of Horus and Luna Wolves (nearly anything Pre-heresy!), and I can't wait to see what you do with these guys.

i like the fact your using space wolves - they are imo the marines with most character and it shows through the simple conversions you have made. keep at it, don't worry about the lack of comments, just burn on through and do what makes you happy.

on a side note though, i can see flash lines! grrrrrrr get em off lol

Really nice stuff! You have pulled the paintjob off really well, are the eyes freehand? At first I was not convinced with all the space wolfy stuff in the army but they do look quite nice all spread out. The biker is super cool as well, may have to pick up a set of the new raptors for my own uses. l

Intrigued about the bike. Lego you say? Looks promising!

Keep up the good work!

Ok folks here is my latest addition to my sons army.
I wanted it to look like it spent most of the time traversing the empyrean and feeding.I kept with my color scheme and added wear and tear with washes, bolt gun metal and a sponge. The wonderfully useful bi carb was used to make the snow(i think it works better than my GW snow).Any way hit me up with comments etc i read them all.

This mini was a little indulgence for me as i had been painting a large model and fancied a change.
I think the model is awesome even unpainted and found it to be reasonably priced too.

I really like the choise of colors especially the purple skin of the heldrake. And i have to agree with the other posters - the Space Wolf heads give them a very strong character.

But why do i have to think on he-man when i see this guy? Wasn't he blonde? And probably no chaos marine either.

I forgot to ask earlier on, what colour did you use for the green, or was it mixed?

This, is really cool. I always like to see what things people can come up with from those little plastic blister packs.

The painting on your Sons is really top notch and the conversions are well done. I especially like the Cairn Wraith. I just picked one up myself to convert for an INQ28 war band. Would you mind telling me what that APC is called and where you bought it? I'd like to pick one up myself, its very interesting and well sculpted.
