Does anyone have an issue with the Vallejo washes were and areas where it is pooled are drying white and not the given color? I've had the issue with both green and brown.

Yep they tend to that which is the main reason I stopped using them. It seems to be related to the fact that they settle causing that weird effect.

Yeah, it's just a very strange phenomenon. It makes me sad because I hate paint pots. Maybe I'll have to get some GW washes and but them in droppers.

Try oil washes. Pretty cheap and they play very nice, easy to clean up with mineral spirits if you get too much on to make sure you get the look you're going for.

Solution: use less, alternatively apply thinly as shading.

Yeah, I use oil washes for certain things. I like to use washes for all over glazes.

Shake, shake, shake. Add an agitator to the dropper bottle. When you think you've shaken enough give it a few extra.

I have had this happen before and it really sucks. If you spray the model dullcoat it will go away.

Have you considered the army painter washes? Great review and GW comparison here:

The USS Orinoco was a Federation Danube-class runabout that was in service with Starfleet in the late 24th century, attached to Deep Space 9. It was outfitted with a sensor pod.

I've found Vallejo washes to be good but require a bit of work. I usually thin it down at least half with water/matt medium/flow aid. Improves the texture of the washes substantially.

I've had it happen. It seems to only happen when you put it on too thick.

I have army paint washes and are really great but I mostly use oil washes.
They are cheaper and with better results

I just google searched for this exact issue! I think I put it on too thick. My question is, how do you get rid of those white patches?

Paint over it :( I almost never use Vallejo washes. They just never go on as nicely as GW washes, which are just so consistent and brainless to use. GW also has a really nice range of colors for its washes. Re: Army Painter -- These washes aren't bad, but you're highly limited in available colors. The only real advantage is a little savings in money, but unless you drown your models, washes last a decent bit anyhow. Also, I don't mind dropper bottles on paints (I prefer pots), but I HATE dropper bottles on washes. I only do recesses, so one drop of wash will usually is too much; when it's too little, I add a second drop and THAT is way too much. With a pot, I can wash straight from the pot and use as much as I use.

Just bear it in mind going forwards,
