Hi guys,

I picked up a clone of Tactical Squad Raphael from Dark Vengeance and I was wondering if anyone had some ideas on how to make the Sergeants look a bit different? I am thinking about swapping the head and the chainsword and perhaps replacing it with a Boltgun (held in one hand, same pose) if my limited skills allow me to do so! Also going to chop the DA Icon from his backpack and replace it with a small standard.

Would a Boltgun and a Plasma Pistol be a valid gear choice? Perhaps a pair of Plasma Pistols? Don't have my codex yet as it hasn't been delivered. :( Please note, the real Sgt. Raphael is a WIP.

Two guns is never a good choice really.
Easy way to make him different would be, as you said, just chopping the icon off and sticking a banner on, then give him a helmet. If you've got any spare power weapons, you could give him that? Or even swap his pistol for something?
Then just paint him slightly differently, and they'll look totally different.

Thanks Sir Samuel. Do you say about the two guns from a rules perspective only? My models will never be played with in any sort of professional capacity so the rule of cool is usually gonna win it for me.

Here's two plasma pistols and the changed head. I am also thinking of painting the helmet bone to match the chest pieces etc.

Purely from a rules perspective it's not worth it. But Rule of Cool always wins out. He looks good, only thing I'd suggest would be to turn his head slightly so that he's looking the same way as the gun.

Thanks. I get my codex in a few days so I won't glue him until I've had a chance to read it over and make up my mind.

I also just realized that the only banner I have that would suit will need to be stripped, because it has about 10 coats of practice paint on it lol.

Personally, I would change the plasma pistol for a Combi-weapon and the chainsword hand for a pointing hand. The backpack icon would be changed for a banner and the head for a helmet.

Remember that if you have a pair of pistols you can fire both. And twin PP is awesome.

Ive only just discovered this rule, and you can charge after firing both pistols,

but to the OP, if i remember the right arm and head are seperate, so you can swap out for R/H power weapon and different head
also change the back pack to something a bit plainer IMO

Thanks guys! If it's true that you can fire two pistols in one round then I think I might keep it. It kinda fits the Plasma-ery feel of my army so far.

I'll have a look at what I have on my other sprues and see if I have anything else that might be suitable.

I've toyed with the idea of having a Captain wielding a Boltgun and a Plasma pistol in relatively the same stance, and having it be a "count as" combi-weapon.
