I've been trying to find a new game for the past couple of weeks, and after searching in vain before realizing that really my FLGS only has mostly GW players I've settled on playing some WHFB. but if you know my work at all you would know I can't just do an off the shelf army, no, there must be some kind of theme, and it seems that my "thing" is historical themes at this point. so I searched the interwebz for themes for WHFB armies when I stumbled upon the idea for a Roman Empire themed skaven army. now I'm thinking I can make the helmet plumes out of GS, but the shields are going to be the part I can't make on my own. here's some examples of the kinds of shields I need:

here's what I'm thinking for some of the units:
clanrats: pre-marian legionaries
stormvermin: imperial legionaries
slaves: axuilia
giant rats: "war dogs"

the rest I'll make suitably roman, but my main problem is where to get the shields for the main line units. does anyone know where I can get these kinds of shields in bulk?

Might be a bit pricey, since they're metal, but Foundry has oodles of shields available.

thanks for all the replies everyone. I dug up some WGF Romans for clanrat shields, spears and officer's plumes. here's an example:

I'm thinking I'll use the WGF shields for the clanrats, the warlord ones for the stormvermin, and I still need to find some good auxilia shields.

Looking class! A whole army with a very militaristic theme will be very cool. Remember, paint them red for Julii!

honestly I haven't thought about paint scheme yet, but that's a good idea. also I put together a Thracian gladiator skaven just for fun:

I don't know what I'm going to use him as, but it was fun to make
