What do you guys think are the most most noble sacrifices in all of 40k?

Mine is where the Astral Knights crash into the World Engine and deploy their whole chapter. Knowing there was no coming back.

The Emperor of Mankind.

Malcador the Sigilite is one of the nobler ones, seeing as he willingly allows himself to turn to dust on the golden throne in order to keep the hole shut and allow the Emperor to utter his final words.

Eldrad. Being slaneesh bitch sucks and knowingly going to that doom is pretty noble.

Sanguinius is another good one.

I mean, lets face it, noble sacrifices are what the Guard does best.

The sacrifice every space marine initiate makes when he is chosen to become a space marine. To lose your humanity to protect the humanity of others.

Noble Horus, who sacrificed his very soul to free mankind from the carriongod's shackles.

Noble Ghazghkull, who sacrificed most of his life and efforts to attempt to free Armageddon from the tyranny of the Imperium.

No, frontal attacks against entrenched blood pact and vrak militia till the enemy run out of ammo are what the guard does best.

Noble Horus, who sacrificed his very soul to free mankind from the carriongod's shackles.

Not really a sacrifice, he fully exspected to win. On the other hand the certain individual who stated "death is nothing compared to vindication" is my idea of what sacrifice is, something given freely and something holding great value, a life of a Primarch to send a message to a sentient corspe, thats sacrifice.

After that I like the Penal Legion, a group of criminals and traitors with every reason to hate the Imperium who nevertheless helped halt the Tyranids.

Mortarion giving his Soul to preserve his own Legion. I know he is a bad guy and jadajadajada but this kinda touched me in a perverted way.

I second Sanguinius and the Ultramarine's 1st, those were things that came straight to my mind.

The humble earth: sacrificed under the tread of the mighty CRASSUS ARMOURED ASSAULT TRANSPORT.

Prince Yreil deserves a mention, taking the Spear of Twilight and dooming himself in order to save his Craftworld. A Craftworld which was very unfair to him in the past, I might add. Very noble, that.

Too many to mentione, literally every major character of forcess of order ( Imperium, Tau, Eldar ) have noble sacrifices made for billions - especially Imperium.

The most noble sacrifice in entire universe is that of the Emperor of Mankind. The men sacrifice everything, even his own son in the end, to ensure that Mankind has a fighting chance in the endtimes that will come soon.

On second place is Sanguinius, he literally gave his life so that the Imperium could have at least some kind of tomorrow - for better or worse.

And an honourable mention to the Phoenix Lord Irilyth who sacrificed himself, almost to never be reborn, to protect Craftworld Mymeara. And then the Mymearans, Corsairs and Alaitoc Eldar sacrificed a lot to get his body back.

The initial wave of Hormagaunts who charged the polar fortresses on Macragge, starring down death and refusing to blink, sacrificing themselves for the good of the hivemind.

Techmarines everywhere. In quite a few SM based books I've read there is always a techmarine who needs to operate something on the wrong side of the blast doors or needs to detonate something manually or some other noble sacrifice for the good of his chapter/squad. True heroes those guys.

Actually now that I think of it, almost all,of the GK special characters have pretty heroic sacrifices. Hmm.

Any Adeptus Arbites precinct on a rebellious/zombie infested world. Despite the fact that everything is going to hell all around them, they never waver and always go down swinging.

Talos and the remnants of the 10th company, sacrificed to rebuild a shattered legion that kept the eldar from saving Cadia like they did in the past. We miss you soul hunter.
