So I've had the idea for a while to make a count as forgefiend for my deathwatch. The debate in my head was to base it off a large vat grown servitor or a xenos creature. I had tried a few concepts for a vat grown one but it always ended up bipedal, which for me would have made it too different from the forgefiend model and it would have looked weird on the large oval base. I looked at some warhammer models but they all seemed like too much work so I stared looking at nids, I debated between the tervigon and carnifex and decided on the fex because the tervigon was just too big.

So here's a crappy sketch of the concept, the finished model will have more cybernetic/biomech stuff going on, I'm contemplating even going full cadillac and dinosaurs and putting a psychic operator riding atop of the fex.

Fluffwise, it's a specialized combat servitor produced by the mechanicus for the deathwatch. A mix of controls via chem injectors/pheromone sprays and various esoteric psychic tech keeps the carnifex docile until activated for combat, basic motor function and weapons systems are slaved to remote command and control rhinos or by an operator (if I decide to model one on it).

I find the concept fits well with the forgefiend’s rules. Causing fear seems to make sense, having an invul save and being able to regenerate seems to fit somewhat the the fex. I’ll obviously be adding a bit of armor for the vehicle concept to make more sense. Daemonforge could represent an operator taking full control of the weapons systems for critical targeting.

I've already ordered all the bits I need so hopefully I'll receive everything within the next few weeks. I ordered the arms and cannon bits from the forgefiend and a full fex kit as well as an oval base so it works well in game terms. For some of the biomech stuff I ordered some talos bits. I'll keep updating the thread as I work on it.

Do you play 30k? It'd be a lot cooler if you did.

It is done; the beast will soon be primed. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. Although it's a bit shorter than the actual forgefiend model it's still pretty close. I made sure not to give a dynamic pose as it's still a vehicle so los of the weapon mounts was important. I debated putting some inquisition or adeptus mechanicus iconography on it but decided against that, I like to think of it as an ordo xenos inquisitor's dirty little secret, possibly an adeptus mechanic quid pro quo pet project.

It turned out really cool. There are just some areas where it would be better to close some gaps with gs like on the cables and such.

Also i looks kinda front heavy. Maybe another set of legs underneath it?

Concept and execution are done real well. My only complain is that you didn't file/sand down all the mold lines. Otherwise it's a pretty awesome conversion you've got there.

I love it! One wonders why the actual Forgefiend model didn't get made as something similar, just with a demonic beast instead of a Carnifex.

So many gaps and mould lines D:

File/fill those imperfections and you'll have yourself a pretty sweet model.

Yeah I wasn't thrilled with the steampunk vibe of the forgefiend model

I remember seeing pics of one from adepticon a few years ago.

I decided to put a plasmacannon instead of the searchlight, makes more sense seeing as the forgefiend doesn't have a searchlight in its rules.
