Look at it this way, they are at least getting something in the future and that's always a plus IMHO.

At least it shows that Warcry is getting ongoing support and they aren't just tripling down on more SCE vs Kruleboyz (unless scutlings are getting a Kruleboyz style makeover) Probably a December release by which point it will be nearly a year since the last release.

You're both right, but I feel frustrated - I was hoping the ending teaser would be for whatever is next for AoS, and that we would get some real previews for warcry.

He has no inside information whatsoever, that's just the existing BT rumours from the (evidently extremely reliable) B&C source from a month or so back repackaged in video form alongside the updated release dates from WHC.

They won't do it for CSM but they'll definitely do it for World Eaters.

Because World Eaters will be a "new army"? Yeah, probably. I'm betting that all of the LaTD stuff will be the CSM box, with the codex hopefully coming separately, along with the new Astartes stuff. I've got a sinking feeling that the Chosen will be stuck in a Killteam box with something else though.

Yeah, pretty much. All of the launch boxes have been for new armies/major revamps of existing armies - even with the volume of kits we're apparently getting in 2022, CSM already received their major revamp in 2019.

Bet you're right on the Chosen box though, that sounds like something they'd do.

I'm feeling pretty underwhelmed with the BT reveal. I feel like the Primaris design makes them all look samey even with the tabards and the sculpted templar crosses/chains. Also agreed with some of the previous posters that they could done so much more for the primaris neophytes. I guess the only question will be how the primaris crusader will function differently compared to their firstborn equivalent. It sucks since I want to be more hyped, but having a Redemptor there too just reinforces how...bland they feel despite BT being my favourite SM subfaction.

That Warcry teaser amounted to, “hey you’re getting something at some point, probably spiders.” Doesn’t do much for me after nothing most of the year from the game apart from Call of the Everchosen. I would have even taken a silhouette over this.

Well color me surprised. Warcry wasn't stormcast v kruleboyz. A spider-themed chaos cult? I'll take it. Unfortunately, that's all we get, and that's likely it for Gen Con.

Was expecting them to show off more of the upcoming Black Templar stuff (Helbrect is getting a new model right?)

But otherwise everything else went pretty much as everyone expected. With how slow the releases are coming out, I'd expect the Warcry stuff, whatever it is, to be July of 2022.

What, you see a video where every single piece of information matches existing rumours posted on B&C a month+ ago and posted on YT at various points in the same period by Valrak, and you think that the uploader has "advanced info"? There isn't a thing in that video that doesn't exactly match what we've seen already elsewhere in the past/what is present on the WHC article.

Yes, he had it ready to go and just threw the images in. There is nothing there we have not already known for weeks. That video was posted over an hour after the WHC article dropped, which is more than enough time to do the kind of editing he does. It's not rocket science.

Well everyone on Dakka forum's was complaining that GW didn't release things soon enough for each edition... they release a codex early in a special edition box and now you complain that they release things sooner? Why don't you Dakka forum trolls make up your mind? You want things released sooner or later? Its like no matter what GW does your gonna complain. And frankly, im tired of it. Why don't you go complain somewhere else while you play your Hello Kitty Island Adventure game on your computer and let us Black Templar players appreciate what GW has done for us.

OK, one, it isn't 'everyone,' different people have different opinions.

Second, the boxed sets aren't giving anything 'early.' The alternative isn't 'sooner' or 'later.' Its just the initial release has some FOMO attached to boost sales, like it was a PS5 planned scarcity release.

Third, the boxed set is... eh. Its a one click bundle. Fairly standard primaris. Slightly larger, but standard ugly scouts, a so-so champion, an ugly marshal and an overproduced Dread. Nothing to write home about.

This special edition limited box set is an early limited art release of the new BT codex. So it is considered an early release for the codex. The regular BT Codex will be released at a later date. So it looks like a Dakka forum member ( surprise! heavy sarcasm here! ) is complaining about a release that is happening SOONER, rather than LATER ( the later part being the regular edition of the Black Templar Codex ). Hope this clears things up for you and the other Dakka forum members who LOVE to complain ; )

My point is, Dakka forum members complained about late releases for 40K 9th Edition, and now that GW releases early codex's in limited box sets, surprise surprise, they complain! So what does this tell us? Well, it tells us that no matter what happens, people on Dakka will complain about 40k releases no matter what GW does! Isnt that funny? I think its hilarious!

Uhhh....sticking the codex in the box just means that anyone who plays BT but isn't getting the box has to wait. Most codexes release separately at the same time as whatever new models that the faction is getting. So people who want the codex but not the models can get it without waiting.

But agreed, those models have potential. Can't wait for those bare heads and arms to hit the bits market. They'll look great hanging from chains on my tanks and dreadnoughts.......

Nice to wake up to all of this.

Warcry
Ok, so, a teaser for a teaser. Wouldn't be a GW reveal without them revealing nothing at all. Sorry Warcry players, but this time you drew the "not actually a preview" short-straw. Given that these minis are designed months ago, and Warcry was listed among the things that would be getting reveals, you really do have to wonder why they go to such trouble to show us nothing at all.

Black Templars
The Black Templars... hmm... not as hype as I thought I'd be. I've had a soft spot for "Crusading Marines" for quite a while, but these models really don't do it for me. The previously seen Emp's Chump is not as good as the current one, the regular Marines are far more subdued than I thought, and the Primaris Neophytes are just biggerised Scouts (but what was I expecting...). And they put an existing model in the box. That's really lame. The worst part is they're going to charge Sisters/Beastsnagga box prices for what amounts to 12 Marines and a Dread.

I like the Marshall. I especially like how they tell us that he has options, but don't show any of them. Good stuff.

Newcromunda
The terrain is probably the most reactionary release I have ever seen from GW. It's like they saw the oodles of people out there turning Munitorum Containers and other random bits and bobs into Gun Stores and Rat-Meat stalls and all manner of other things and went "Wait... we should do that!". I noticed the Mung Vase immediately during the trailer, so that's a nice touch.

Overall I think they look very good - and you can be damned sure I'll end up getting two sets because it's me and it's terrain - but I can't shake the feeling that this is going to be a very Goblin Town style release, that is to say a whole lot'a money for not much plastic.

But the dregs, or 'Underhive Outcasts' as they're calling them? They're fantastic! It's another very limited kit (three sprues of 4 models, with 5 or maybe 6 heads, small selection of basic weaponry), but... it's generic Necromunda humans. They're a 40k RPG player's dream!!! And I like the weapon selection - regular shotguns, lasguns and autoguns. Laspistols, autopistols, basic HTH weapons. The aesthetic is a good mix that feels natural to Necromunda without skewing towards any gang. I don't really understand if you would do a gang like this, but I still think they're very nice.

And another book to go with them. Ok. I guess we should be happy it's not Goliaths 5.0.

And this is precisely why people get frustrated with GW “previews.” They list Warcry as getting a preview, and then when the Warcry preview comes along they say “New Warcry coming soon.” Which would have been just as exciting had it been listed at the end of the monthly Warcry WarCom article. Had they not said they had a Warcry preview and slipped in the little trailer at the end of the show people who have simple thought “Oh, that’s nice, something is coming for Warcry eventually.”

When people are expecting an actual preview and get a virtually information less teaser instead……well, it’s a bit beyond disappointing.

On a positive note, GW showed literally nothing I have remotely any interest in giving them my money for at Gen Con, so that’s more money in the bank.

BT looks real cool, yet the box is pretty much a glorified Combat Patrol.

Necromunda stuff is great, but I bet you can do your own with popsicle sticks and cloth with more versatile results.

Warcry was the letdown...

Pretty disappointing in my opinion. I like the Black Templars stuff but it’s predictably just the army box. I think the Necromunda gang is boring, personally, and the fact that there’s only 4 different bodies in the 12 person box is really obvious. And literally just a teaser trailer for Warcry. The market terrain is probably the best part and I’m not a terrain guy.

The BT box bugs me a bit - compared to the SoB box, or even the Ork one, it seems like you're stretching the definition of "army" to call that an "army box". 2 HQ, 1 Elites, 1 Troops (possibly two, depending on how the Primaris Crusader Squad entry ends up operating, but presented as one for now)... it's a fair chunk of points, given the EmpChamp, Marshall and Redemptor, but even so.
