I really don't like the model for the Stormtalen. The Nephilim jet fighter, while being almost exactly the same model, looks a millions times better, imho of course.
So here's the question: Would you take exception to an opponent running a Nephilim Jet fighter (with perhaps some modeling done to it) as a Stormtalen Gunship?

With Chaos, Tzeench would probably turn your hands, feet and face into
scrotums, complete with appropriate nerve endings. Then Khorne would
force you and all your friends to fight to the death using your new
scrotal appendages. Once they get tired of that, you get tossed to

end up in Nurgle's clutches and he uses you as a loofah.

No, but I also wouldn't have problems with people using a potato on a stick as a proxy, so perhaps I'm not a good person to ask.

As long as they weren't playing a Dark Angels army and they made it obvious what weapons it had I wouldn't mind.

Some conversion would be appreciated though.

To me, they don't look similar enough to say they're "almost exactly the same model," but that's just an aesthetics thing.

I would let you run it, especially with some conversion. If it was super confusing, because you were also running a Dark Talon or something, a sticky note could easily fix it.

Ummm from some one who has built one just put the appropriate weapons systems on and the model the rest as the nephilim. Personally I used the talons tail but other than that no one knows and no one cares.

They're both absolutely hideous models. Do the right thing like I am in the process of, and convert up a Valkyrie as a Vulture with Space Marine crew and Stormtalon appropriate weaponry.

Marneus Calgar is referred to as "one of the Imperium's greatest tacticians" and he treats the Codex like it's the War Bible. If the Codex is garbage, then how bad is everyone else?

I considered getting a nephilim and doing this same thing myself, rather than buying an ugly model..
(eventually I decided to buy neither)
So it seems perfectly fine to me.

Its funny that I think that the Valkyrie/Vulture is hideous.

As long as it has roughly correct weapons converted on it I'd have no problem with this.

(Stormtalons look cool though, at least once you've modded them a bit.)

It's okay to be ridiculously wrong.

As long as it has the appropriate weapons I'd be cool. And you'd have to specify that you were using it as a Stormtalon.

Its actually a disadvantage to do this because the Stormtalon's assault cannon can turn 360 degrees. If you mounted it on the Nephilim you'd only have a 45 degree field of fire.

Just make sure it has the proper weapon systems in place and you're fine in my book.

Yup, so long as it has the right weapons on it, go for it. I would probably make a point of mentioning it to an opponent pre-game just to make sure there are no misunderstandings, though.

Yes, I'd have an issue with seeing a Nephilim model on my table at all, because it is unbelievably ugly and likely to cause severe psychological damage to everyone who witnesses such a disgusting act.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.

Its no more ugly than what other things GW has come out with, and its far from the worst. Maybe your standards are too high
