I am student studying Maths, physics, IT and to make a bit of money I was thinking about building custom computers.
The computer I am on I built myself and I have also helped 4 other friends with theirs so I know quite a bit and can advise on what to get.
So far this is mainly to see how many people would be interested and I haven't decided on prices, although that would probably depend on the type of computer wanted.

This isn't the 80's......It takes next to no computer skills to put a computer together now.

That's not really the hard bit, you still need to know which parts to put in.

I have to agree with Tyrius. Anyone who wants a custom built PC knows how to build their own. Those who don't will probably buy a Dell.

I've recently gotten out of the IT industry, it is so easy to learn how to fix the problems yourself now that it's not worth paying someone.

I have no idea about computers and don't have the inclination to learn. Not everyone is experienced in that regard Tyrius, nor may they want to be.

I'd love a custom built gaming pc though cash is far too tight right now. Go for it though man, there's definitely a market for cheap and impartial advisers and builders, just be prepared to be asked about fixing current set ups etc too

Many people are too busy or just can't be bothered to learn; I know of people who are great painters yet pay others to paint their models for them and this is the same case with computers.
Also, these are aimed at people who are getting into PC gamming, most people wouldn't build a pc to do work on, they would probably buy an HP or sony laptop.
There has been a massive increase of people switching over to PC from games console, about a year ago I had 2 friends (IRL) on Steam, I now have about 12 and am still finding out about others people I know who have recently downloaded it.
The main problem is that loads of people who start getting into PC gaming belive that gaming computers such as Alien ware are worth the price and don't realise that the parts in them are the same as ones you can buy for much less online

Actually more to the point of the trade forum here is that this is a medium of exchange for those who want to exchange goods and services based around the hobby.

As long as it is hobby related, a person can trade or barter whatever they want (legally).
