I just saw in this picture cadian shock troop with a face plate.

I am currently not an imperial guard player, so I never bought a box of them, but these models alone could really turn me into an Imperial Guard player. They look really cool. Almost feel like Star Wars imperial scout trooper.

Anyways, can someone confirm to me if the face plate, that we currently see on this shock troop upgrade sprue, is available in the default cadian shock troop provided by GW? I never liked the iperial guards with their faces visible, but the face plate changes everything.

Would make a very nice addition as allies to my Dark Angels.

The rebreather face masky things come in the Cadian command squad kit. You only get 5 though. I also have plans for kitting out my whole army with them. The only problem is getting mass amounts of them.

OK, so you have 10 men with 5 face mask?
I might as well try to get my hands on masks ASAP if I ever intend to add a few imperial guards to my army. With the new GW policy on bits in north america, it might become more diffiicult to get them later.

I can´t find them on my sprue, the only thing remotely similar is the Vox caster head

Yeah, I don't think the rebreathers come with any GW Cadian box, just a Voxcaster head. So you probably have to spend the ~$30 to get the 10 FW respirators.

It's a shame too, because the respirator heads are so damn cool, especially if you're going for an elite army like Elysians.

I could have sworn they were in the Command Squad box too, but it might have been Heavy Weapons....

I just looked at the sprue on GW's site and I can see 5 sets of goggles but they wouldn't cover the whole face. Might be good looking enough though.

Ebay is your friend.

You get five masks in the command squad box. If you combine those with the goggled heads from the heavy weapons you should get something like the hostile environment troopers

Is this not the current Cadian Command Squad box contents? I'm not seeing ANY face masks, only helmets.






To the OP, you'll want to buy the masks from Forge World, if the above is correct.

There are certainly not many rebreather heads in standard Cadian sprues. The infantry and heavy weapon sprues don't have them at all. If you want those specific rebreathers, then FW is your friend. Alternatively there are a huge range of 3rd party manufacturers that make enclosed helmets for Guard scale infantry. Personally I use Pig Iron, but there are many others.

#38 is a regular head, that's a face on it.

#37 is a head with a helmet.

No, the sweet rebreather masks in the link you provided are NOT in the regular cadian plastic kit, THAT'S WHY FORGEWORLD IS SELLING THEM.

While technically correct, this is misleading. The sprue has five mask bits which you glue ONTO the standard heads. The sprue does not have five of the FW-esque respirator heads.

Also, I'd note that the rebreather helmets would be absurdly easy to craft out of vox caster heads and a bit of greenstuff and/or plasticard rod.



The best part is that practically nobody wants these bitz, so you could get a LOT of them for really cheap.

Ah yes my apologies gentlemen. My post was rather misleading. The Cadian Command Squad most certainly does come with rebreathers but they aren't attached to heads like the Forgeworld ones. As has been pointed out they are object #58 in Kronks picture and are called "Gas masks".


As Alarios pointed out the stardard Vox head also makes a fine rebreather head. They are also cheap and plentiful on the ebay and other bitz sellers.


Also as an alternative you can get gas masks and gas mask heads from Vic minis. They are quite nice looking.

Do these tickle your fancy? Eisenkern stormtroopers >> Cadians (even the admittedly much better FW ones) imo, and I own a lot of Cadians as a Guard player.

You could theoretically file down the nose and mouth of the goggles helmet and glue the rebreather on top of it and achieve the same look. If you're willing to do the work, of course.

Very very nice. But i also like the rest of the body of the cadian shock troops. The heads from these guys would be nice as individual sprues.

Now that I think about it. What would be your feeling if your opponent fielded all his imp guards troops as 3rd party miniatures? Would you be enclined to not play against him?

I actually bought a set of Eisenkern guys to use as Inquisition troopers, only to find that they aren't in scale with other GW products. They are actually slightly bigger than Marines, so using them as Guardsmen equivalents isn't going to work so hot. I suppose that they would work well if you had your entire army composed of them, but they unfortunately look quite out of place when mixed in to an existing force.

i guess I'll stick with the simple idea of using 3rd party heads and the rest of the imperial guard's bodies.
