I was curious about how tall thraka actually is, after searching around the internet the general consensus is that he stands around 18 - 20 ft ( in his armour and not slouching), My main question is what do people think if they came out with a new Thraka model and made him a Monsotrus Creature?

Not a monstrous creature, but a new model would be nice.

...20ft, that's like a 3 storey building. Kinda seems a bit ridiculous to me. So I'd probably say about half of that maybe 10-12ft. Thats already 1.5stories and about the max I'd say he'd ever be. Otherwise to make a scale model of him, he'd probably be like the size of a dreadknight. http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/362964.page Thats the old model, every one knows what the current ones like. I'd say the old one... definitely too small but I think the current one is reasonable. If a new one were to be made, I wouldn't want it to be much bigger

I doubt he'd ever get MC rules....though i think it would be awesome as hell so now he attacks at initiative instead of i1 since Unwieldy doesnt affect MCs.
He does need a new model, seeing as how theres really no significant difference between him and a regular boss in mega armor unless its scratchbuilt. I say this because so many people buy it for the meganob boss count-as and not to be ghaz.
Whatever they do to him, he needs help. Right now hes only used as an MC killer in my books, since he can take out 1-2 of them per game if my dice dont epically fail on me. Aside from that, hes worthless for the cost compared to a regular boss.

This is in my opinion one of GW's best models, and a new one is not needed.
he is already almost the size of a dread, so a upsizing would be kinda silly, besides I like to be able to put him in my kustom battlewagon.

That they did. Right now, it should be an additional waaagh! to your normal one because the bonuses really dont do jack except for him compared to the old one.
The few times i field him, even if i have dakkajets i refuse to call it unless he is facing a MC or something else equally as deadly he needs to survive the punches from. When i just take a dakkajet i call it the instant they show up, whether the rest of my army can use it to any real benefit or not because i doubt all my dakkajets will survive more than 1 turn anyway.
I'd much rather be able to run then charge than reroll either's results. It would let me charge a turn faster, which is huge (provided i didnt wiff my dice)

Giant ork? How bout my deffbrute conversion?
An Ork Big Mek and Weirdboy saw a Chaos Space Marine Hellbrute walking around. They glanced at each other, and both had the perfect idea. They found a random Ork Boy, and while the Big Mek pretended to suit him up for some Mega Armor the Weirdboy made a contraption for him to drink. After an agonizing (for the Boy) and interesting (for the Big Mek and Weirdboy) twisting of flesh and bonding of bone to metal, a monsterous beast stood before them. Thus was born, the Deffbrute!

I don't think he needs a new model. Personally, I've never thought he was supposed to be anywhere close to 18-20 feet tall. I'd say around ten feet. I think his rules are potent enough as it is, too. Still, if they did put out a new model, I'd be interested to see it!

He also doesn't need to be a monstrous creature - he's bloody good enough as he is.

There are a lot more models that need updating long before Ghazzy. Not just due to their size, but also because some of them look terrible next to more recent models.
I'll cite Dante, Mephiston, Azrael, Ragnar Blackmane, most of the Eldar Phoenix Lords, and Abaddon for examples.

Reposition his arms to be reaching in front of him instead of dragging his knuckles improves it a lot. That's how I modelled mine and it's fairly straightforward to do it.

The model is still great!
And Gazgull would suffer as a monstrous creature, he would gain a few special rules, at the cost of losing independant character. Gazzy is good because you stick him in a battlewagon full of nasties. Automatically Appended Next Post: Evileyes wrote:The model is still great!

This is what i mean't by my earlier post in this thread, picture didn't load. sorry if it appeared i was being a troll. i geniunely mean't that there should be a larger ork (possibly increase nob size atleast as well as boyz, gazgh's cool the size he is now), and had completely forgotten the stompa even though i say stompy alot

Maugan Ra and Karandras need updating and they need to make (unless they already have and i don't mean failcast) a MPPK of the avatar and of course make it about the size of the MMPK DP
Dante needs an update bad
, meph is ok for a bit longer
, Azrael needs one but they should keep the one they have for collector purposes,
Ragnar is passable, but SW will complain i am being bias against them, i'm not, "honestly", it could use one but make it less like the one is now possibly a bit like the Sci Fi Vikings (can't at moment remember manufacturer, but they look sweet, even for a diehard foe of the SW scum),
Abad needs to be the size of a titan, jokes, no actually make him about the size of an obliterator/ DP MPPK form, make it 20+ pc's, and everyone would buy abad even non chaos.
they should also make the PL's [phoenix lords- not going to captitalise there names beside Maugan and Karandras- the others i dislike utterly...they shiver my timbers] MPPK's,
and of course the avatar as a MPPK, the other characters not listed as MPPK's imo should be in failcast, or MPPK's depending on who likes what me i like MPPK's [Multi Part Plastic Kits].....some may cry heresy but i'll mention it anyway.
Azrael and Ragnar could be released in a dual box titled "bitter enemies" (limited edtition)- contents ragnar, a wolf priest several spacewolves and Azrael and a chaplain/libby or something and some dark angels and charge as much as the "daemon specific god box sets".
these are idea's not actual reality nor are they based on fact but i do think and have thought it'd be cool for some time.....what do you think, sorry if i have strayed OT, just finally had an outlet for this idea and super ready mentioned all the characters i thought needed some work.

It's not the style - it's the pose (and to an extent, his smaller size). It's the same deal with Mephiston. He comes from an era when the moulds were much more restrictive in what could and couldn't be done. So his sideways pose is very "2D" when you look at it in real life.
Try and pose like him for yourself - you'll soon realise it's not exactly a natural stance, nor a useful one for battle.

Now this would be great, but unlikely... more likely we'll get a Finecast update if anything. That said - are you aware Forgeworld do an awesome Avatar model?

yep i bought one but i had a broken weapon and arm on arrival. not too fond of FC/ FW resins unfortunately. though there are some nice "shiny's to collect" just a shame they make them in such brittle polycarbonised resin. needless to say the FW avatar i had was given away to a friend. I agree both should be a bit bigger, also a bit more dynamic in pose. however that said they should keep both meph and ragnar in the collectors ranges (the metal range that mostly everyone forgets in favor of MPPK's or failcast/ FW for) meph is ok (compared to ragnar, for a while longer, ragnar needs a new pose, while meph doesn't really, but a new sculpt could benefit both miniatures)
they could do a "heroes of legend" box (has x1 character from the main 5 named chapters: DA/ SW/UM/IF/ BA, much like the "armour through the ages" set, when they resculpt each of the characters....again just an idea)

I really don't like his current model. Thraka should be more ork and less mega-armor to stand out from other armored nobs, and that skull on a pole is kinda fun but...not very cool.
Both he and Abaddon are way overdue for cooler models, being such important characters in the 40K verse.
