Just a few shots of the current version of Gogsnik and a WIP of his attack squig.

Very nice! I like his pose, though I'm sure some forum goers might start getting butthurt about how 'it's not a realistic pose' or semesuch.

How big is the blighter, anyway? He's a big lad, from that I can tell.

Very cool conversion. The GS details looks very good as well as the rest of the scratchbuild armor and mechanical parts.

The only thing that buggs me a little is the amount of glue on those small bolts.
You should try applying the glue on a needle and then use it to apply the glue to the model. Much more precission this way.

Alternatively you could drill in holes and glue a thin wire in.

This is a really cool model that you are working on, but honestly, the larger nose and protruding ears make his face look more like a Gretchin than an Ork. If it were my model (and if I could sculpt half as well , i would 'shave down' the nose to the smaller, ape-like Ork one, and 'pin back' his ears.

Some people may quibble with the delicate bionic hand (rather than a proppa ork bionik), but this boss looks to be from the Blood Axes by his snazzy hat, so I'm assuming he's repurposing some marine bionics there. I approve (as well as liking the use of the tank treads and Heresy model armor plates).

His squig is weird, but it hearkens back to the older editions of squigs, which had a much wider array of appearances than the two-legged toothy puffball, so I'm good with it. Paint it with spots, please. I don't know why, but I envision it having ridiculously brightly colored spots.

I love the wide stance and wild swing. I think it's terribly orky, and wholly suitable for a boss. You should do a display base with three sets of Space Marine legs and groins, all spouting blood.

Nice sculpting, man! I like this model a lot, keep up the good work.

Thanks you all for the replies.

It's a slightly awkward stance as I have him leaning back into the swing which is obsucred a little by his cloak.

As for his nose, that's my nod to some of the older ork models and artwork plus it helped me make him look more angry and furious or that's I hope he looks!!!

He has a few Imperial links to show his history as a mercenary which aren't visible in these pictures.

And yes, the bloody glue on those rivets!!! Very tricky to do them but practise makes perfect I suppose.

Has it really been that long? I always say I work very slowly but really...

Anyway, I'm not much of a painter which will show in these pictures but I've got one close up of the face and one providing a size comparison so you can see how big he is.

The left, cybork arm will eventually have a digital camouflage scheme, so what you see here is just the base colour which is Tau Sept something or other or Iyanden Dark Sun, I forget which.

Any tips, advice or criticism is very much appreciated; like I say, I'm not much of a painter so any pointers will be of value to me. Thanks all for looking.

So, finally some updates. These are my attempts (rather poorly executed as they may be) of digi camo, some orky humour and weathering. The weathering on the choppa looks a lot more silver than it is. There is also the final WIP shot of Gogsnik's attack squig, Mick. Any comments, criticisms or tips are all gratefully received.

Very very nice work.
Size is perfect since he won't accidentally be taking their heads off.

I need to put some ears on the face on the cape - took me a while of head scratching to work out why it didn't look right!

Thanks for the comments everyone, gives me some much needed motivation to actually finish, although it's only taken two years or so to get this far...

Just a quick update showing the painting progress on the attack squig. I'm quite pleased with the white spots as they give him a toxic look and the red ties him in nicely with Gogsnik's 'uge choppa.
