Good evening everyone. After so much time I joined dakkadakka, I figured it was about time I posted some of my work to get some C&C from the community. I have been delaying because it's a bit intimidating when you see minis from "newbies" like me and they are just mind-boggling great . But anyway, let's cut to the chase.

My *I Still have to decide on a name* Dynasty is located on a Ice / Snow world. It's filled with cool colours and I decided that the higher the "rank" of the model, the more warm colours would show up. They are powered by a very light blue energy source, that's also used to power their Tesla and Gauss weaponry. It's very bright and when the necron is active, it will show through the ribs or other empty spaces.

Necron Warriors (my first minis):

This is my Harlequin, also known as Bob the Blob. Say hi, Bob!

Poor guy was the one who suffered my many experiences until I decided I wanted a very simple scheme for my warriors to show their "lowly" rank. But I liked him so much, I added some extra colours and he was ready to kick some butt as the squad leader.

Group shot!

Scarabs:

These little guys were the next ones I decided to paint. After completing my warriors I felt a bit sad with the almost empty bases. I decided I was going to improve that:

Something that necrons really aren't famous for but I love are squad leaders. I felt I needed them, even if it's completely against the "normal" fluff. Hence my Harlequin and the 4 different scarabs here. Just for fun, I decided to create some very jewel like scarabs, each one with a precious stone as the "eye" (Red - Ruby, Green - Emerald, Blue - Sapphire, Yellow - Topaz).

Immortals:

These were my first real challenge. I just couldn't figure out how to paint them. I wanted to give the impression they were more badass, much more "colder", but I had no idea how. Thankfully my FLGS owner helped once again! 50% leadbelcher + 50% Vallejo silver. After that, Blue Glaze all over the miniature to give away a "cold metal" feeling. This is now my "Living metal" scheme. I also added much more blue to show how they were much more important than the lowly warriors (but still not important enough for warm colours):

And once again, a squad leader:

I really wanted this guy to stand out from the rest. Even his energy source is different from everyone else, and a warm colour to boot!

Group shot!

Ghost Ark (oh, the pain!):

This one took me ages to complete. Again, a problem deciding the colour scheme. First I figured I wanted the "ribs" to be bone coloured to give the impression it was from an ancient animal long dead, but I figured it was too barbaric for a race such as necrons, so I figured it would also be done like the Immortal's "Living Metal"

My attempt of some humour - A Blue Screen of Death!

Destroyer:

This is actually my favourite model so far. Easy to cut, easy to assemble, easy to glue and easy to paint and it looks badass. It was a real joy to paint it and it was much faster than the immortals!

Well, thank you very reading and (I hope) enjoying this long post. I hope the pictures are good enough and I would appreciate all C&C. Thanks!

(and sorry for any english mistake that makes the Grammar Nazi in you cringe in pain )

They look awesome, especially if your as much of a "newbie" as you say!

You could say they were really cool (excuse the pun)

Thanks I'm always trying new stuff in an attempt to improve myself and my minis. It really adds a lot to the overall look.

Thank you and yes, never again will my bases be that empty. I used the GW texture paints but at the time I didn't have anything else. They are not bad, mind you, but not enough for me. Now I actually have snow, rocks, bits of IoM stuff. It really improves the overall look of a mini a lot!

So, after some weeks of intense cutting and gluing several new necron units for a tournament, I finally managed to paint!

Necron Lord

I bought this old metal lord from another player and I actually painted over the previous paint scheme, didn't even strip. Painted red "seriously" for the first time using MiniWarGaming Kris tutorial and I'm very happy with the result. It was also my first time doing several layers, gradually changing the colors.
The small white symbol is now my "official" dynasty symbol aswell

Heavy Destroyer

Because they are Heavy Destroyers, I figured they should be shining with all the extra energy to power up the Heavy Gauss Cannon, so it was my first attempt at OSL Not a brilliant result, but the symbol and eye do look shining with energy. In short, I need more practice

Objective Marker

My first of 5 different objective markers, because using random crap is not good enough for me. I'm very happy I managed to buy a set of "Cyber Invaders" bases from puppetswar before they mysteriously disappeared.

Please, all C&C is welcome and important for me. I'm doing my best to keep improving my painting skills. Thank you

I like everything in your army but the purple squad leader, perhaps giving him the same paint color as the rest of his squad, but give him a white face, or even give him the same face markings as the warriors squad leader.

Just some tips for pushing yourself: I think you could take the highlights and give them a medium between the blue base and the bright blue highlight, as well as a little bit of a wash and some highlighting on the metallics (like the heavy destroyer's gun tip.

With all that said, man you're off to an awesome start

Your dynasty is off to a great start. I like the humorous subtones of the army, looks like your overlord spent to much time watching Transformers while lying in his stasis tomb.

Thanks Alfndrate . About the purple squad leader, there's a reason for that... see answer to the HirogenHunter

About the rest: Yes, you are right! I am trying to attempt a "graduation" of highlight colors but not from a blue base to the bright. That one is on purpose. It's between that bright blue until white (you can see this more easily on the Hvy Destroyers shoulder pads, frontal view). The Lord has some in areas I considered would reflect the most light but I still need to improve the blending skills between the layers!

About the rest, I already use the Nuln Oil for the Leadbelcher base color and Ironbreaker for highlights. For the warscythe's gold I had a base of Warplock Bronze (?), a Gehena's Gold base and then Auric Armour Gold followed by Runefang Steel highlight. The Heavy Destroyers gold was a different experience: Gehena's Gold, Auric Armour Gold, Seraphim Sephia Shade and highlighted with Auric and Runefang steel.

It really isn't that easy to see here. I really should make one of those lightboxes (?) so I can take better pictures. That's something to improve aswell! Thank you very much for the comments

Haha, thank you. Yes, I just had to have a Transformer's reference and since I both like Shockwave and his paint scheme, boom, squad leader

No, change everyone else to Shockwave's colors. Purple ftw.

That Lord's head is blindingly white. Personally, I would try and tone it down a bit so it doesn't get so washed out in pictures with white backgrounds or when light shines on him, but other than that he looks great.

I really love the cold, icy feel that they have. Tons of interesting fluff you could come up with for them.

Glad you liked the purple that much

Yes, his head was painted only with White Scar over the previous paint, it does look shiny. For the next lord I'm gonna do a wash and then highlight it back to white again.

And thank you, that's the exact feel I want this army to give away
