Guardians Chronicles is a cooperative board game for 2 to 5 players, from ages 14 and up.

One player assumes the role of the Super Villain Pr. Skarov, while the rest of the players assume the role of a Super Hero, each with their own unique Super Powers.

Depending on the scenario, the players must achieve a certain number of goals to achieve victory, while the evil Pr. Skarov attempts make them fail.

I'm still not 100% sure I get their prepainted stretch goal.

If I understand correctly it was just the original heroes and villains that will be painted, none of the stretch goals/ add ons.

Yet then the creators came on and mentioned something about everything getting prepainted. I don't know if they meant everything at the $800 level or at the stretch goal.

They've got a WHILE to go on this one, so I hope they use that time to get people convinced this will be something worth backing. Because that page was a MESS when it first went live.

Interesting. Its one of the few mini markets not really tapped. Sculpts look fairly good. Nothing mind-blowing, but solid. Will watch this.

There is a negative to me: TABAN MINIATURES is involved in the painting. That's a French company that produces the Eden Miniatures line. Now, they do fantastic painting and sculpting, but are completely horrid at COSTUMER SERVICE. I supported Taban on an IndieGoGo last year; they shipped in December. I still do not have my models. And, more importantly, I've been trying to contact them for 6 weeks WITH NO RESPONSE.

Completely unacceptable, and their inclusion in this Kickstarter (minor though it might be) throws up huge red flags for me.

Game has funded, the road to stretch goals has begun.

Oh- stretch goals have been totally worked around as well- there is something substantial every 5k all the way up to 100k.

Just about every stretch goal is a new hero or villain, with some extra dice tossed in there as well.

Early rules are posted, play/ walkthroughs have been posted... this one is starting to shape up nicely. Especially if they hit all those goals!

Hmm, could be fun, but I've never particularly enjoyed "players vs. DM" board games. Good call to have the demo rules on their KS... will check it out eventually.

Supposedly they will work out some sort of true co-op players vs. the board rules at a later time.

The Guardian Chronicles kickstarter ends in less than 2 days, so deserves some attention. It is currently at 86k $ and a lt of superheroes and villains have been unlocked since the start. To get an idea, here what you currently get with the "sweet spot" pledge of 160$ + postage:

Dude doing the bulk of the artwork is a pretty established comic artist in France. He's done a few Escape designs as well.

That being said, he's no Ledroit or Druillet. I could only imagine what minis based on their designs would look like!

On topic- anyone going to take a chance on the prepaints? I think I just may to see how they end up. Worst case I can always fill in the details or strip them entirely, right?

I'm not sure if the Night Squad are villains.

It mentions that it includes their rookie and veteran cards. I thought only the heroes got those.

Maybe they can be both heroes and villains? Like a rival group or something? Have them rumble with the liberty squad over something stupid in typical comic book fashion?

President's daughter is up next, and after that we get submarine tiles and an ocean villain. Could be interesting...

If there were definite co-op rules, or more Henchmen that the villain could use, it'd be a definite buy.

As it is, I'm not too sure about spending $160 on something that'd probably only hit the table once a year.

If I remember correctly, there will be co-op as well as solo rules developed.

Henchman wise, you have 40 robots to mess with in three varieties, plus a handful of actual villains to join the fight against 20+ superheroes with variable power levels.

The 120k stretch is to have another villain join in the fun as well, and there's artwork out there of a monster version of the president's daughter, so there's another villain I'm assuming you might have to fight.

Regardless if it comes from France, US, or the outer reaches of Antarctica, to myself this is a low quality piece of work (previous post of pictures/tags that I viewed) that I would not use for any production work on any of my IP's. Perhaps I have a higher standard in conceptual art than others. The pledge tags and the cover art is substandard to what I deal with.

Again not impressed with the artwork. Will see if the sculpts are better though.

Okay, this ended successfully at $120,571 , unlocking a few extra stretch goals on the way.
