Well, Looks like we have our own prom now, and the cool kids are upset they are not invited.
But in all honesty, I saw the event, IT was hilarious and full of jokes. And palins comment makes it sound like people just have to work and have no fun.

CNN) - Conan O’Brien and President Barack Obama may have had the political crowd in high spirits at Saturday’s White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner, but in Alaska, Sarah Palin wasn’t laughing.

“Yuk it up media and pols,” the former Alaska governor wrote on her Facebook page. “While America is buried in taxes and a fight for our rights, the permanent political class in DC dresses up and has a prom to make fun of themselves. No need for that, we get the real joke.”

On Twitter she was even more barbed.

“That #WHCA was pathetic. The rest of America is out there working our asses off while these DC assclowns throw themselves a #nerdprom,” she wrote.

While this year’s dinner may have rubbed Palin the wrong way, she’s shown a little more love for the annual event in the past. In 2011, she attended an afterparty sponsored by Vanity Fair and Bloomberg News, held at the home of the French ambassador in Washington.

But she’s never attended the event, and has long mocked what she calls the “lamestream media” for an overly cozy relationship with the political establishment.

For the second time in the last few years, I find myself agreeing with Sarah Palin.

in 2011, she posted about how members of Congress would have stock portfolios that vastly outperformed the market, and so consistently that the only possibility was that they were acting on inside information they gleaned in the course of their duties. This was, of course, totally true - members of congress are not subject to the insider trading laws that would send you or I directly to prison. This then led to a special report on... god, I don't remember the news program. 60 minutes perhaps - which totally substantiated her claim. Congress responded by proposing a law that did virtually nothing to actually fix the problem, then they watered down the ever living gak out of even that half-ass measure, and passed it and called it good. So, the wheel keeps merrily turning to this day. She called it, and she was right.

I don't think Americans know what taxation looks like. 'Buried in taxation', look at what we pay on our income, and cars, and fuel, and VAT, and similarly in Europe. And 'fighting for your rights'. This is rich coming from someone who can be counted among those that ideally want to ban abortions and the like thus taking away basic choices/rights. Maybe she's actually worried Obama is going to take away her right to machine gun polar bears to death.

And, as a totally laughable followup, it looks like they weakened that half-ass legislation even more. Jesus, good job, media.

You sure about that? I'd argue that Europeans get more out of government per taxes spent than American do... but, it's hard to quantify it. Suffice to say, we do feel it in our pockets.
