Wait a minute - wasn't the rule exactly the OPPOSITE before?

Q: If a unit charges into combat and, on the turn it charges, the last
of the enemy unit it is fighting are removed as casualties due to
Daemonic Instability, the Unstable special rule, Cornered Rats or as
a result of a War Machine failing its Break test, does the charging
unit get to make an Overrun move? (p58).
A: Yes.

As far as I can remember, it has been played that way before as well.

I'm looking at the 1.7 FAQ right now, from January, which I had printed out. It's different - the "Q" paragraph is identical, but the word "yes" at the end is "no." This was a BIG DEAL when the FAQ came out about this.

Yes, they changed their mind and gave an exactly opposite answer. Been a tough month for DoC players...

Yeah, what the heck? Why make this change? It changes a lot about strategy in a way that we've been playing exactly the opposite for many months.

Probably because they realized how dumb their previous ruling was.

A single zombie surviving the combat and only dying due to crumble could tie up a massive unit.

Self-proclaimed evil Cat-person. Dues Ex Felines

Cato Sicarius, after force feeding Captain Ventris a copy of the Codex Astartes for having the audacity to play Deathwatch, chokes to death on his own D-baggery after finding Calgar assembling his new Eldar army.

Actually, it was the doom wolf dying, losing combat by 5 and the unit crumbling was the issue. Really small units could roadblock very large ones.
Zombies never came up as an issue for me, because opponents weren't getting the ~15 kills needed to have combat res wipe the unit on the charge anyway.
Dire Wolves, Fell Bats, Bat Swarms, and Furies were all another story.

I was mostly referring to zombie roadblocks created using Raise Dead. Not ones purchased as part of the army list.

I guess I just can't believe that I'm the first person to bring this up. It changes a lot.

All over

I've played I both ways. I personally think if the unit dies to crumble there should be no overcharge but I also think crumble shod happen outside of the combat phase.

Frankly, I don't think this is as big of a debuff as people think. In particular, I play a Warriors of Chaos army which LOVES not having to overrun after it crumbles things since it finds frenzy to be a huge liability.

It was huge against Brettonians and other charge dependent armies. It let you do broken army lists with lots of wolves that would hold up whole flanks. It is a pretty big debuff, but that doesn't mean it matters in every matchup.
