I've been trying to think of a good conversion to make High Yield Missile Pods for my older Broadside model's. Has anyone seen anything or have any good idea's?

My first thought was using Paulson Games Missile pods (http://www.paulsongames.com/catalog/item/8270133/9104104.htm) There large enough that they would work as a quick and easy. I also though of using the shoulder and arm ones and then side mount the SMS, my worry on this one is its too many missiles on one model.

Thoughts?

I'm using the Paulson games missiles and in the end decided that the underslung missile were too much to represent SMS. I think using the old SMS ont eh hands with 2 Paulson Games missile racks on shoulders is perfect. they look great, had lots of compliments.

Not sure the size would be right. I was also looking for something more than new parts on an old model.

If you have extra Tau parts, you could put extra missile pods together.

I used old missile pods... filed one side and glued together.

I have to leave for work in a few minutes, but I can take a pic when I get home in the morning before I go to sleep and post it for you.

I've been thinking about doing some Broadside conversions myself. I was thinking about building a SAM style support structure on the back with a rack of Hammerhead smart missiles mixed with missile pods, and using the standard SMS hands as, well, an SMS

I'll keep my eyes on this thread anyway, as it'll be interesting to see what people come up with.

I use old missile pods, one on each shoulder. Gets the job done.

High yield missile pod bits on ebay are remarkably affordable. You could just replace the arms and put the old pods on the back and be done with it for only a few bucks.

I got some time last night while the little ones were a sleep to do a mockup with some yellow tac.

This was my concept;

My concern is that it's too many missile

The spacing is going to be a lot more tighter minus the yellow tac. I'm thinking that the right arm can be raised up and the left down at the side to accommodate for space. I was also thinking the top missile pods might need to go a bit forward to look more balanced.

Is this too many missiles on one model?

Looks like you don't need my pictures. I think they look just fine without the big pods on the hands, using the SMS on hands instead. Although I guess it does buff the unit's width to bring it closer what the new model looks like.

Ain't no such thing as too many missiles

Here's how I converted some HYMPs from Fantasy bases and scale rivets (already using the hand-mounted SMS from the old Broadside...no way am I paying £120 for four new Broadsides):

1. First I glued two bases together bottom to bottom. This gives you a hexagonal shape when viewed side on. I'll call this a "pod."

2. I used a large emery board to file one side of the pod flat. This is where the "Missiles" go. You can file it flat without breaking through to the hollow interior.

3. I got some Grandt Line round-headed rivets (used for scale railway modelling, etc) and stuck them on the flat face to look like the warheads. I managed to fit 12 on each pod (I used the 1.5mm diameter ones).

4. I then stuck two pods together, one atop the other. Now I have a double pod with 24 "warheads." I mounted it on the suit's shoulder.

That said, if I'd known about those Paulson parts before I would just have used them!

Yes. It's getting like Space Marines with skulls.

The SMS on the right hand iof the picture look a bit restricted by the shoulder mounted pod. Otehrwise, really nicely done colour scheme and a nice conversion!
