Yay! A teaser that tells us nothing, shows us nothing and will generate too much press for what it is; about 30 seconds of logos and prerendered animation spank! YAAAAY!
And here's the full trailer. It's another wonderful Blur Studios animation, just like the last Arkham game, but it doesn't show off any game play. Batman doesn't speak either. I'm skeptical of this game, but still willing to give it a try.

There's actually a reason for that right now.
It's not Kevin Conroy voicing Batman/Bruce Wayne. It's Roger Craig Smith, who voiced Chris Redfield.
Trailer looks amazing. This honestly looks like a better game than the previous two, at least concept wise, and that's a high bar.
It was a joke that being said I not sure having a trailer with 2 obscure Batman characters that look similar to some Marvel characters was the best decision, I also just found out that Deathstroke has been around longer than Deadpool so I guess Deadpool is the rip off character then.

"Black Skull" isn't really obscure to people who are familiar with Batman.
He even was one of the central villains in the recent "Batman: Under the Red Hood".

Yeah but to the causal audience he isn't, like the character's familiar to the average person would be Bane, Joker, Two Face, Poison Ivy, Mr. Freeze, Penguin, Catwoman, Batman, Robin, Batwoman, Harley Quinn, commissioner Gordan and Riddler. Btw I don't read the comics I've only seen
the Nolan movies, the Tim Burton Movies, the horrible Joel Schumacher films and some of the animated TV shows.

Which is why they decided to go with a character like Black Mask.
There are no real preconceptions from anyone except the actual Batman fans.
For the record though, he was in Arkham City and Arkham Asylum. Or at least I should say his background and the stuff necessary to really "introduce" the character to a mainstream audience. He even was part of the Robin DLC bundle that Best Buy had for preorders.
I'm still skeptical about Origins thus far. I usually don't base wanting to buy a game on "trailers", its usually gameplay vids that determine that.
However if an entire movie was made like the full trailer then I would happily watch it.
I only really got into Batman after the Nolan films so I have very little knowledge of the villains(watch a bit of the animated stuff when I was younger but that was many years ago)
When the rich rage war it's the poor who die
Armies I have: Chaos Space Marines, Tau, Necrons, High Elves
Armies I want:Lizardmen, Warriors Of Chaos, Dark Eldar
Armies I may get: Dark Angels, Tomb Kings, Vampire Counts
There's some animated Batman films out now that are of a very high, professional quality.
Batman: Year One is almost a panel by panel animation of the comic book. - This is the main Batman origin story.
Batman: Under the Red Hood has been mentioned a few times in this thread and I really can't praise it highly enough.
You might also want to check out the first season of 'Arrow' which has just finished. Although it's not directly Batman related, several crossover villains show up in it. Including Deadshot and Deathstroke (that's where those pics are from I posted), as well as 'China White' and a member of the bat-family, The Huntress.

Well as it's the third game in the series, it doesn't really have to introduce players to the concept of a Batman game. This far in they can experiment with more obscure characters. I mean, the game'll still have Joker and Penguin, so it's not as if people will be completely in the dark. Plus Deadshot was in Arkham City, and Black Mask had a cameo on Arkham City as well.
As far as Deathstroke/Deadpool, he's not a ripoff of the other. It's a joke. Where do you do the death stroke? Why in the dead pool of course! The two have even met one another in a cross-over comic.

This trailer does make me a little excited, even though I don't usually put much stock into teasers that come out this early. The reason is that the teaser for Arkham City actually gave a really decent indication of what the final game was like. It was all in there - wider open spaces than Asylum, the mobs of Tyger Guards, Strange of course, and at the time the smoke pellet was an exciting new toy - there wasn't anything that ended up getting left out.
That said - I am aware that it's different people responsible for Origins, so that skepticism just got injected RIGHT back in again.
Also, I'm calling it now - Joker will make an appearance of some sort. I mean, come on... did no-one else see Origins as a way of going back in time in some way?

I would like to find out more about Batman(never really cared until now) but due to work and other commitments I don't really have the time. But thanks for the heads up on where to start.

Also suggested reading, these are all graphic novels:
The Killing Joke (the setup for Batgirl becoming Oracle, also a fantastic "possible" origin for the Joker)
Hush (features most of the main characters in the villains' gallery)
Death in the Family (what happened to that-Robin-that-died-and-came-back-later)
Knightfall (introduction of Bane and again, features a lot of other villains)
The Dark Knight Returns (set in the future so the canon isn't too insightful in your case, but the tone and sense of place are spot on)

Pretty much, but, this article should have most of the ones I mentioned if not all - I just picked ones I knew would be better for a "starting" BatFan (yes, that's a proper term).
