Subject: full Dark Angels Chapter - 50,000 pts?
|

Hi guys, please help me.
I was curious how many points a full Chapter of Space Marines would be, because why not.
After crunching the numbers it currently looks like 53,638 pts.
HOWEVER I did make some assumptions, and would like to get as accurate as possible. I've only got the current Codex and don't have in-depth knowledge of the Dark Angels, so some of my data could be way off. I also haven't included most wargear/upgrades or exact pts.

oh, this also means that if all Chapters are around the same then the combined 1,000 Chapters in the IOM would be 50 million points

Jk, black metal ist krieg.
BTW, do the Company Masters and everyone else come with just standard wargear for the calculated points total?
If someone were to do Space Wolves, I'm sure the Wolf Lords all have different wargear. But that's not Dark Angels, that's Wolves.

Genuine curiosity. I have no intention of collecting it, jaysus.
Although now I'm kind of tempted to calculate how much it would cost. . .

Always interesting to see the full array of a chapter.
One thing that jumps out is the ravenwing. I may be wrong but I don't think they have any greater numbers than a regular company.
The Ravenwing Attack Squad as in the codex is a nice round 10 man unit (6 on bikes, 2 on the attack bike and 2 in the landspeeder). You have 12 of these for 120 regular troopers in your list.
I would imagine it's more like 6 or 7 with about 20 black knights split between command squads and solo groups and the rest as dedicated pilots for things like darkshrouds or nephilim fighters.

Cheers, the Ravenwing Company bit was very speculative, I have no idea how close I am to right.
I'll work it out later with your ideas, but does anyone know if previous versions of the DA Codex spelt out the numbers exactly? Automatically Appended Next Post: Gman1985 wrote:lol actual monetary cost, go on go for it. Time it to see how long it takes you to calculate it... and go!
Weird, I started to calculate it all, but the GW webstore is missing Deathwing Knights, Deathwing, and Ravenwing Knights

The old dex's said they were a standard company as far as line troops, but who knows with support units. Also the new books indicate they is no set number and it's constantly increasing.

Updated the 2nd company (thanks Cheesyleps!)
Also, going by the GW web store it would cost $26,827 AUD to make this complete DA Chapter

It seems like the Ravenwing would need a few more techmarines to keep all those vehicles going.
There is also the long debated question about who is driving the rhinos.
I think you could also throw in a few "semi-retired" super numerary marines if you wanted.
Where are the predators, vindicators and whirlwinds?

I'm assuming most of the Ravenwing vehicles/aircraft are used by other companies, and to be honest I had no idea where the other tanks would sit as they're not mentioned in the Codex or Lexicanum as being assigned to individual companies, so I didn't include them

Vorpal, the deathwing knights are in the deathwing command boxset and the ravenwing black knights are in the ravenwing command box set. Regular deathwing terminators would be the normal space marine terminator/ assault terminator boxes.

Tech marines, pilots, apothecaries, chaplains etc do not count as part of the typical 1000 man limit. Space marine chapters are usually actually around 1500 men when at full strength, not counting serfs who when brought into combat, function much like scouts.

I've decided to add an armoury section for these, as it was a bit weird to leave them out. Thanks!

I'm going by the Lexicanum entry for the DA chapter, as the new codex doesn't break it down very far. Do any of the previous DA codex break it down to actual numbers?
Bloody hell!
Also, for anyone interested the $$$ now stands at $30,808 Australian dollars and $20,872 American dollars

I think this is the minimum amount of point for a full chapters.
I doubt your counting the extra rhino/land raider then have in storage, the extra weapons, all the relics we do not know about. We could go even bigger and add a few Thunderhawk ships.
Still, very impressive, good job

Thunderhawks carry 30 Marines, so even if they insert via Thunderhawk for the whole chapter, they'll need 4 per company. Plus spares in reserve.

The Codex: Angels of Death presents an organizational chart for the entire chapter of the Dark Angels and one for the Blood Angels. All this stuff below is straight out of the codex angels of death, I dont have the latest DA codex so if it is divergent then just choose the one you like I suppose.
Your own creation while similar and not unreasonable does deviate from the codex presentation in several ways.
For example. The higher command group is known as "Inner Circle" This has the Supreme Grandmaster, other Grandmasters, Interogator Chaplains and the Librarians. Also there are no command squads in the chapter command section.
You have the librarians assigned to various companies. Neither interogator chaplains or librarians are part of the various companies. They do have regular chaplains of course.
The various battle and reserve companies should have a standard bearer and apothecary which you have not listed and they do not have any servitors or techmarines.
Servitors and techmarines are in the armoury section.
The 6th company is trained in the use of bikes and the entire company can be deployed as bike squadrons, so add 100 bikes!
The 7th company likewise was trained in the use of landspeeders.
The 8th company has access to bikes and landspeeders as well as jump packs.
Some of the Supernumeraries
Commander of the Fleet
Commander of the Arsenal
Commander of the Watch
Commander of Recruits
Chapter's Armorer
There are also space marines in the armoury that are called Armourers and are different than techmarines.
