The following was posted on a well known blog. Now the reason I am posting it here is because nerdraging while common, this guy has apparently never played a game of 40k or spent any money on it but has developed bitter hatred for 4ok!

To me this guy or gal sounds like they have some serious mental issues. How can you become bitter about a game that you never played over a codex for an army you were not even thinking about playing?

Most of the rest of the thread is a big circle jerk about how pathetic the Eldar codex is but none of them have obviously read it yet.

I’m starting to become increasingly bitter towards 40k.

I wanted to actually start an army if 6E was any good (been lurking around undecisively from around mid-5E). Either Space Marines or Space Wolves, because they are easy to begin with and allow for some good conversions.
I am increasingly doubtful it is a good idea.
Good thing I never had enough money to start. God bless the entry fee.
On the other hand, piracy FTW and ForgeWorld has recently made some badass Legionnaires. Which are also pirate-able. So there is something.
And the roleplay aspect of 40k stands tall and untouched. FFG materiel is exemplary.

But still. ING HIDEOUS FLYERS. WHO PUTS TAILWINGS ON AIRCRAFT LIKE THAT. WHERE THE FU IS THE NIGHTWING. IT WAS AWESOME THEN, IT IS EXCELLENT NOW just make it sleekier and sharpen the edges FU . AND THE FU GANDAM WHICH IS OBVIOUSLY COMPENSATING FOR SOMETHING. SOMETHING UNRELATED TO ELDAR AND MORE RELATED TO GW’s COLLECTIVE PEN.

Interesting, I love the part where he calls the FFG products "exemplary". I love me some Dark Heresy, but I'd hardly call the system "exemplary"...

Also, this thread was not at all what I expected from the title.

What a shame. Truly, the hobby is worse off for this man's absence.

Yeah thats just what came to mind. Naming it "crazy nerdrage" or "silly nerdreage" or" mentally ill nerdrage" all seemed too redundant though. I wasnt trying to bait and switch or anything though. I just had a seriously wtf is wrong with this guy reaction and thought others might find it amusing.

This is hardly an "epic rant". I came in expecting 4 pages of scathing abuse and semi constructed arguments. Instead i get 5 lines of hate/love and then 2 lines of CAPS!!!1.

I was actually expecting someone to have make a DakkaDakka account solely to start complaining about 40k, or maybe someone who plays 40k a lot who had to vent about some of the stupider things in the setting/rules/GW policy (which there are admittedly many to chose from).

Also, to qualify as "Epic" it should be legendary, something to really sit up and take notice of. That post was barely above annoying; your's only slightly more so due to reposting the original. If you want an Epic rant, how about finding one that really tears GW a new one on policies, pricing, closing down specialist games, etc and does so with facts, flair and style?

And nothing of value was lost.

Sorry, that's something my friend says when he's faced with stuff like that rant. I thought it was appropriate, but now I worry people in the thread might think I'm talking about their posts rather than the rant itself.

I really didnt expect this thread to generate so much antipathy, its not like we are discussing great works of philosophy and this thread has somehow diluted the quality of things)

What I found odd about the "rant" was that this guy had NEVER played a game of 40k but he felt bitter toward the game. People that are focusing on the quality of the actual rant are completely missing the point. If you do not think it is extremely weird that someone would develop such a strong emotional response to a game they have never played, fair enough, I just thought it was rather extraordinary and fairly off balance.

It is unusual. But it's not like he's hearing of 40k for the first time. He's been indecisive about starting up a 40k army since about 2010 or so, so he's probably been looking into things since then. Which means he's seen all our collective hate and rants toward GW for three years. Personally, I didn't even last two months before I was going off on 45-minute rants to anyone I knew who would listen, parroting everything negative about GW that I'd read on Dakka.
