*NOTICE*
This thread is going to be a progression of my personal Gang The Hive City Hoods. EVeryone involved will be learning the rules as we go, so please input is greatly appreciated. All Story updates will be put in the first post in spoiler tags as they are updated

OK So as mentioned, my 12 y/o nephew Jerrycan and my Son and I played our very first game of Necromunda. In short, it was a frigging blast. Im sure we got some rules wrong, and at first, trading confused us until it became completely obvious and so on. But a blast either way. I took pics along the way, but some were lost due to looking good on the little camera screen, and then turning out to be a fuzzy mess of WTF. SO some moments were lost to the warp, but thats OK it doesnt matter.

Episode1 (test)
Spoiler:

First up... THE GANGS!
Mine. Goliaths "The convicted" So named because we had roughly an hour to paint before we started playing, and they are still orange, not yellow....sooooooo yea things are far from tidey

The Convicted had
Leader Garrick w/ x2 stub guns & dum dum rounds/Knife
Heavy Big Tom w/ heavy stubber & laspistol
Ganger Sven w/ Grenade launcher/frag & laspistol
Ganger Rourke w/ Autogun & laspistol
Ganger Zip w/ Autogun & laspistol
Juve Meat #1 w/ Massive axe
Juve Meat #2 w/laspistol

Mr Jerrycan
Leading "Who "AXED" You?!" Orlocks

Who "AXED" You?!
Leader Johnny Axe w/ x2 Chainswords & laspistol
Heavy Goliath w/heavy stubber & auto pistol
Ganger Gut Stabber w/Lasgun & frag grenades
Ganger Ol Pepe w/ Flail Lasgun
Ganer Gassy w/ Autogun & autopistol
Juve Waky w/knife laspistol and shotgun w/manstopper rounds
Juve Lil Cupcake w/Stubgun Dum Dum rounds.

And last but certainly not least Spencers "Nut Grinderz"

Nut Grinderz
Leader Capt. Shotgun w/shotgun/chainsword/hotshot rounds
Heavy Big Bob w/Heavy stubber
Ganger Billy Joe w/ Flamer/laspistol
Ganger Tim w/lasgun/frag grenages
Ganger Marcus w/Autogun
Juve Mr. Flower w/club Auto pistol
Juve Flower Power w/club/stubgun/dumdum rounds

SO we were all fairly close to one another in points I guess. Close enough to get things rocking anyways. Pictures.

Our nice little set up

Big Tom and Rourke decided to take the high ground. This way they could cover the rest of the gangs advance.

Those CRAZY Who "AXED" you?! guys thought they would control the objective better, by shooting down into the courtyard where the treasure was, and let their Juves take it....

Well not on Big Toms watch they wont!...He got so carried away he apparently killed poor Spencer there in the background. MAN DOWN!

The Nut Grinderz were steadily setting up for position. I thought they were aimlessly wondering for the first few turns, but they had a plan. More on that later

Cupcake, from who "AXED" you must of been on speed, because that Juve was on the treasure like flies on......things flies stick to.

Garrick and Zip try unloading on Cupcake, but hes too quick, they hit nothing but air, while the Meats haul ass after him!

Garrick and Zip hears something from around a bunker and go to see what it was. They suddenly see Johnny Axe trying to be sneaky and shoot him down! Not so fast you crazy bastard!

This is where pictures became lost to the Warp. Basically, from my foggy memory anyways. Both Meats from my gang, chased up to beat up Cupcake. Cupcake still strung out on go juice (he just ran the whole game the poor sod) leaped off the crane and hauled ass with the treasure everyone showed up to get! Just when we thought that the Nut Grinderz were all affected by stupidity or something, they sprung into action! Late game tactics for the win!
They appeared from all over! Mowing down 2 from Who "AXED" you?! including poor cupcake (who later died.....) forcing him to drop the treasure

And on the Who "AXED" you?!'s flank!

Soon there were bodies EVERYWHERE going for that loot. All we knew was, it was shiney, and LARGE! It had to be worth a small fortune. Lucky for me, Meat #2 scurried over and took possession of the loot! Though it looked grim, he was being surrounded by those clever Nut Grinderz! And one incredibly bananas Juve from that gang full of crazies. It was Wakky from the bunker!

"EAT BOOOOOOOT!!!!!" He shouted from above!

*THUD*
He doesnt aim so well......

Facing certain death, Meat 2 readied himself to go down in glory. The game ended, but so many gangers were so close to the loot, we decided to have a final brawl and the winner takes the loot....

Lucky for me, Meat2 proves to be a total badass tough guy in close combat. He beat 2 and was finally put down on his back on the 3rd. Giving the win to

Capt Shotgun and his Nut Grinderz!

It was a total blast to play this match. I feel like the rules are actually fairly easy to pick up, and there are plenty of situations for just crazy crazy things to happen. In the end, my son had a few guys go down, but they came back either full recovery, or a wound that wasnt terribly bad. Jerry boy had a similar deal but ended up with 1 dead, and I also ended with 1 dead. Poor Zip.....After Garrick shot down Johnny Axe, Zip charged after a Who "AXED" you?! Ganger named Gassy, who with 1 hit, killed zip. Pretty damn impressive!

SO! Hope you enjoyed this almost, not really battle rep

Episode2 "The start of it all...."
Spoiler:
This episode stars...
The Hive City Hoods (Still WIP)

The Assassins

The Enforcers! (painted by my brother)

It seemed a typical day in the Hive, all was normal and clear looking to Sgt. Skip Rocket of Precinct 1,leading his patrol to a call of a transport freighter that had suddenly blown apart during its haul.

"So you really think it was an accident Sarge?" Said Womack hesitantly
"Of course not, nothing happens by accident in the Hive, just keep your eyes open and your guard up boys!" Sgt Rocket bellowed

Unbeknownst to Sgt Rocket and his patrol, they were being tracked by a vicious group of Nomads known only as The Assassins. They make the bulk of their credits by selling high grade weapons to the traders, and the easiest place to find those weapons, is from the bodies of dead Enforcers.

The Unknown motions silently for the rest of his gang to keep low and quiet. To wait for the right moment to strike.

Basher and his brother Knifer scale the building just above the patrol of Enforcers. They get into posistion just as Unknown gives the signal to attack.

"GAK! Contact left!" shouted Officer Timbo.
"Ponch is hit!" screeched Womack
grunting under his breath "Im OK, ...took it in the breast plate" said Ponch
"Multiple contacts!" Johnson shouted through tightly grit teeth. Johnson and Sgt Rocket let bolter rounds tear through the ruin.

Basher grunts as hes put down from shotgun blasts at close range. His brother Knifer is enraged with the sight of Basher being peppered and bleeding unconscious on the deck. Knifer charges behind cover and lets loose into the enforcers

"BLARFG!!" Womack takes some autogun rounds center mass.
"GET UP AND TAKE COVER!" Timbo shouts as he helps Womack from the deck.

The Enforcers all duck into what ever type of cover they can find, They were completely taken by surprise from the assault from the Assassins, but now they are getting their bearings and starting to take some ground back...when suddenly

"GET THE LOOT, AND KILL EVERY LAST FRACKING ONE OF THEM!!" Hector yelled so loud, his voice was heard echoing among the shoot out.

"YEA KILL'EM ALL!"

"CHARGE!!"

[i]Then suddenly a loud "PLUNK" was heard in the confusion...

The shell made a high arc over the entire battle field, the mess of combat for all sides seemed to stop and go into slow motion, while everyone watched the shell plummet right into the middle of the Enforcers patrol

Womack heard an intense ringing in his ears, his vision was blurry and there was a cloud of dust that consumed the entire street they were standing on. In a drunken haze, he slowly staggered to his feet trying to shake off the affects of the blast. He saw most of his squad were hit, Johnson and Ponch were slowly getting up as well, while Timbo was completely unconscious, blood pouring from an unseen wound. Suddenly he could see Sgt. Skip Rocket shouting at him, his words slowly forming into his head.

"GET YOUR ASSES OFF THE DECKS! THEY ARE PUSHING HARD, ITS TIME TO SHOW SOME GANGLAND SCUM WHO THE FRACKING FOOLS FROM PRECINCT 1 ARE!" Sgt Rockets words hit the rest of the patrol like a steel bat to the head. They all jumped up and took cover

By the time they took position, the Hive City Hoods covered the entire area, from low to high...

What the Hive City Hoods were unaware of, was that the Assassins were just as much out for themselves. The Unknown was a quick witted leader, he saw that the Hoods were stealing loot, and sent some of his own to sneak some off as well.

And while he was fighting Enforcers, he realized that the Hoods were coming in serious force, and if his Nomads were pushed out, they would of wasted resources for nothing, and the gear they tracked the Enforcers for, would be lost to them....

"Remember to lead the prey..." The Unknown said quietly under his breath.

"Hit high, so the impact sends the prey over the edge...." speaking to himself in a cold, calm tone.

The Unknown lets out his breath..."PFFFT"....and the shot hits true.

"UHG!" The round hits Smudge high in the chest, and sends him over the railing of the causeway.

"OK, we've got what we came for, lets bolt" The Unknown said, and motioned for the rest of his crew to leave while they still can.

"AAAHHHHRRRRGG!!!!" Bellowed Hector.
He was steaming angry, it was obvious that he was suffering from extreme roid rage. He punched the closest Juve he could get ahold of, and proceeded to beat him into a pulp. The Enforcers grabbed Timbo and drug him off towards the Precinct for medical attention. It seemed everyone was running off and his Hoods had no one to pound on.

"GAR!!!......Oh well, we've stolen a boat load of loot, and shot down some Enforcers. With a little luck, these boxes wont be full of "Feminine Hygiene products".
Hector quoted in the air
"At least if they are, we known the address to Precinct 1" He said with a hefty laugh, that made tears come to his eyes and his muscles jiggle.
The rest of the Hoods, stared in confusion as to why Hector found that so funny, and so quietly and quickly left
"Because those are for GIRLS!" He shouted and slapped his knee
"Uh..... Hector?" said Mr. Tyson, reloading his grenade launcher....
"Right lads?! They were GIRLS!!! BWAHAHAHAAAA!!! " Hector was near hysterical with laughter.
"HECTOR!" Mr. Tyson shouted with all his might
"HUH?!? Wha?"
To Hectors amazement, while he was enjoying his joke, the rest of his gang had left, and he was laughing and joking all by himself.

"HEY!!! YOU GUYS ARE A BUNCH A GIRLS TOO!!" Hector screamed shaking his fist in the air.

Well many thanks Zwan! And yea the setup turned out WAAAAY better then I expected it would. We just grabbed whatever we could find in the garage and a few toys and such and tossed it together. Infact, thats the reason the floor has so much...dirt? on it anyways. But yea, glad you liked it! I plan on take better pics and follow the goings on better next time so that as we progress in our games, the reps will be better to follow as well!

MAybe Ill even try my hand at some story driven reps like how Ailaros does his. But with a bit more humor in it, since to me, thats how these games should be played, with a bit of humor to go along with your teeth being knocked out

Nice report KC, this was a great read. BTW Giant Crane is GIANT!

This is what Necro was all about to me, throwing a few bits together, arsein' about and making stories out of the games. I'm sure a few of the gangers now have personal vendettas against other gangers and the whole thing takes off from there.

Your game seemed to have a pretty high body count for gangs with low numbers - were you using the bottling out rules (LD test at a 3rd down IIRC?).

Also you haven't completed the best bit of the after game phase - levelling up and new equipment. As soon as the young'uns see their juves becoming badass they'll get really addicted to the game (if not already!).

Either way I'm now expecting Ailaros like reports to keep me amused at work.

P.s. does this mean less orky more gang style from KC? Dare I say it; a new Avatar?

Woot! I find Necro and GorkaMorka are great games to play with my kid. They are fast and relatively easy. A lot of the outcome is luck rather than skill.

That's some really nice terrain, I like what you're doing with the empty aerosol cans. You need to get someone to play Scavvvies, they're the most fun of all (there's nothing quite like actually eating one of your rivals to get a really nice feud going). If you can get someone else in, Imperial Enforcers are also really choice and you can make them quite easily with various Imperial Guard models. If you want additional material for your games Yakromunda is really good, they've got free downloads of all of the chapter approved stuff that came out in 'Necromunda' and 'Gang War' magazines.

People who say that stories about rogue traders are all just Firefly rip-offs have obviously have never heard of Rogue Trader.

Thanks for the compliments. I'm sure we will get more people over time, I'm enjoying this game too much not to get others excited about it. Also I've been to yakromunda and have been flipping through that site for a few days now lol. Thanks for the heads up

You my friend are hard core.
I think I should break out the lego.

Funny enough, the terrain you are using have "good bones" and I can see slight conversions can make it great.

Glad you can include your boys in this, mine are still pretty scary with crushing models so Goliath may be the right models to survive them.

First thanks for the compliments and replies, it helps with the motovation

And yes, I plan on continuing the updates in here so we can see how this evolves and so on. I also did a little work on the walk ways as well. I cut some details into them and added some mesh to make them look more industrial then they are currently.

Also, I'm showing my brother how to play possibly tomorrow, so I just might have a storied update to kick things off. And I've been painting my gang as well, and need to finish their skin tones and weapons and then some basingand they will be done, so I'll ad some updates there as well. So this weekend should prove to be a nice update, so stay tuned lads

Terrible "terrain". Minis that aren't even close to WYSIWYG and don't even look like proper Orlocks. Silly names.

I love it!

Everything about this BatRep should piss me off, but it doesn't. One question - how'd a Ganger get a Grenade Launcher?

Simple case of missing that they can't have one lol. I'll have to fix that in my roster. Maybe I'll drop the other heavy, because the grenade launcher seems to work decently for me.

Also we played another game today, so tomorrow I'll work on getting the game/ pics/ story together for everyone's enjoyment

I'd suggest always having two heavies right from the start. Might as well get them levelling up early rather than later down the line. A special weapon on the second one (specifically GLs or Flamers) is a good choice. The 60" range on the GL is also pretty amazing.

I will certainly agree on the grenade launchers being awesome. They seem to ALWAYS be in range in fact you'll see a pretty sweet GL moment in the next match

I'll work on that today, hopefully I will be able to post it later today or tomorrow.

The arbites are painted really nicely and the other gangs are really coming along.

Good looking board again.

Hey thanks again! That grenade launcher shot was impressive, though it only downed 1 Enforcer, and I was hoping for a little better outcome. Although having 3 of them pinned and 1 down was pretty awesome. The dice were only really with all of my us on hitting, wounding just wasn't happening, even for the bolt guns and the man stopper rounds in the shotguns my brother rolled a surprising amount of 1s and 2s.

Duh! I never really thought to use Scouts for Arbites! They look really cool, and I have a squad sitting right on my shelf waiting to be painted.

Congrats on having fun with Necromunda! That game and Gorkamorka give me such nostalgic memories......

You should check out Gorkamorka if you can get the rules somewhere. Everything in that game is 10% of Necromunda credits, so multiplying by 10 gives you a really good way to add Orks, and especially some vehicles, to your games.

Also, I highly recommend the indie game "In the Emperor's Name". Much more simplified rules than Necro (though they are fun in their own way), but they allow you to field warbands from every 40K race/faction, as well as civilian vehicles. (And plus, it's free to download).

Another good report KC. Great narrative, very funny.

The terrain is improving too (from a high standard already ), the long causeways are a great idea and will be copies soon.

Also I seem to be doing that for Necromunda as well. I have a group of 5 or 6 40k grots that I'm thinking I should make a Nomads gang or something out of. Speaking of, anyone know a good gang that Grots would fit in as?????

If so please let me know, because I love grots, so I'll probably start soon

That's a possibility for sure I'll have to check out their build and see what's what. I'm some what limited to how the minis look, I mean I can change them a little but having no gs skills can be a hassle.

Actually, just remembered that if you take the points values from Gorkamorka and multiply them by 10 then I believe that everything matches Necromunda, so that might be an easy way to add in some grots or orks.

I have heard amazing things about Gorkamorka. Apparently every vehicle's transport capacity is "however minis you can pile on top of it" and if any of them fall off during play they count as taking damage.

Also apparently one guy's warboss somehow ended up with a turbo boosting jet engine implanted in his chest, so you had this horde of wagons with one suicidal ork just charging along next to them on foot.
