Hey dakka, I'm still day dreaming for my upcoming summer project - deathwatch team plus a small ordo Xenos allied force. I'm thinking I have little option but to use coteaz as I'd like to have henchmen as troops. My current thought-train is whether it could be acceptable/polite to use Xenos models (I know!) as henchmen. Eg kroot or ork 'mercernaries' as deathcult assassins, the new plastic farseer as one of the group of psykers.
Probably the one model I'm most excited about is creating a deathwatch kill marine (perhaps a black shield or a member of the red hunters chapter) to represent a vindicare assassin. I realize its VERY counterintuitive for ordo Xenos, but I've witnessed the current trend of utilizing human figures from WHFB - I simply don't have the funds or skill (or patience) for the required level of kitbashig and sculpting - I'd like to have a diverse range of figures while not looking haphazard to maintain an eye-catching aesthetic - are these the ramblings of a madman?
Dakka lend me your ears!
Regards.

As long as your playing partner(s) is/are okay with it, go gung-ho.

Have you thought about useing non-gw models for your army?
If you look at mantics warpath line especially the corporation and the enforcers there might be something for you in there. And mantic isn't as expensive as GW.

Isn't the scale a bit different? I have some Mantics Forgefathers a friend of mine gave me and they look absolutely tiny when compared to GWs products.

Good think that you mention that. I never thought of that ... I don't know the scale in comparison to GW models and my search-fu was weak but i at least found a picture of enforcers next to an old marine and a grey knight. It looks like the enforcers might work but the corporation - based on the asumption that the enforcers are larger - are probably to small.

Here is the source of those mentioned pictures: http://www.wargamerau.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=144663

@op that sounds like a great idea for a unique force. I can easily see a radical Xenos inquisitor having a full warband of xenos outcasts. Also you need an ork with a monocle and a top hat . Provided all the counts-as look generally like what they are supposed to represent I:think you will only get praise. The 40K range is huge and lets you do pretty much what you want

As long as it's your own coateaz, and you are not making an army, fluff wise, where -the- coateaz allies with xenos, then yeah. I can imagine there are ordo xenos inquisitors that do ally to an extent with xenos mercenaries.

As long as you openly acknowledge it butchers fluff I really doubt anyone will care too much.

Doesn't butcher fluff if it's his own inquisitor with coateaz rules. They have been known to take xenos mercenaries. Heck, look at jokaeru.

Addressing an earlier point, the forgefathers are dwarves in space, they would look small next the GW marines etc.

Why must I always choose beween certain death and probable death.
