Largely pop punk/alternative like Alkaline Trio, Offspring and classic Green Day. Other preferences include classic rock like The Eagles, The Police, ACDC, and a bunch others I'm too last to name.

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

Erm, not all music is created by bands...

Classical is my real love (Vaughan Williams, Saint Saens, Copeland, Rachmaninov), along with film music (Zimmer, Williams, Morricone, TSFH) as well as a little 'classic' popular stuff.

Bit of everything really as long as its sounds good as a tune or the lyrics carry a meaning. Most of my music love goes to heavy metal though and also viking metal, love that

Many things.
Metal like Alestorm, Deathstars and Blind Guardian.

Rock like Three Days Grace, Breaking Benjamin and the like.

And Epics such as TSFH/Thomas Bergerson, Ryo Ishido, Audiomachine.

My taste is quite a wide range.

Can't get into Dubstep, rap and similar type of stuff.

I like to pick the best from lots of genres, talented people make good music, but there is a lot of dross around. Like everything from breakcore to folk.

What was considered "alternative" in the 90's. Mostly mainstream music, some pop, Nirvana, Green Day, Offspring, that sort of stuff. I love Garbage. I've only ever been to one concert, and that was to see Garbage at the Roseland Ballroom.

I also had a friend get me into Bassnectar and Skrillex recently. It was a lot better than I had thought.

I also like some rap, but rarely, and only up until the point where 2pac was killed. Not that 2pac dying killed rap for me, just that's a useful milestone for when it kinda started sucking for me and never stopped.

Generally, Classic Rock (Aerosmith, Genesis, Rolling Stones) and Adult Alternative (Black Keys, Mumford and Sons)

But I listen to a variety, including classical, rock, and some country.

As for what I know, I've seen at lest 2 documentaries on Genesis and 1 on Phil Collins back in the day.

Whatever sounds good to me.

Mandorallen turned back toward the insolently sneering baron. 'My Lord,' The great knight said distantly, 'I find thy face apelike and thy form misshapen. Thy beard, moreover, is an offence against decency, resembling more closely the scabrous fur which doth decorate the hinder portion of a mongrel dog than a proper adornment for a human face. Is it possibly that thy mother, seized by some wild lechery, did dally at some time past with a randy goat?' - Mimbrate Knight Protector Mandorallen.

What do I listen to? Where do I start?
Primarily, my "favourite" bands are Megadeth and Iron maiden, and I like some Metallica and Saxon... Also listen to a fair bit of GnR, but also Muse and Kasabian (the early stuff, preferably)
And there's a smattering of other bands too - White stripes, R.E.M, The Distillers.

Recently I've been listening to some Japanese stuff like SCANDAL - Shoujo S, which was the opening music in the Bleach anime. It's addictive...

Also have a keen appreciation for classical music - Planet suite and Ride of the Valkyries especially, and of course the LOTR soundtrack.

So yeah, a fair mix, basically I like anything that's dramatic and inspires my imagination - I hate (what I hear as) bland, repetitive music, which unfortunately precludes rap and modern pop from my tastes.

Overall, I'd call myself a Metalhead, just one who dabbles a bit

And I'd say I know Megadeth's history best, having watched an hour long documentary on it

Almost everything I listen to is some form of rock music (usually from 60s-80s although I sometimes listen to stuff from the 90s-2000s) which may sound limiting but it really isn't as rock music is one of the most versatile genres you have aggressive stuff (punk, heavy metal, hard rock, etc),

poppy stuff (rock, glam rock, etc), experimental ideas (art rock, kraut rock, experimental rock, etc), it can be simple (punk, folk rock, garage rock, etc), complex (prog rock, heavy metal, etc), trippy (psychedelic rock, prog rock, noise rock), atmospheric (blues rock, psychedelic rock, etc),

intellectual (art rock, prog rock, etc), I think you get the idea. That being said I try to look for bands who were innovators or were taking their style in a real creative way, so long as it's done in a competent or compelling way.
