Glad they're putting the breaks on the next big Darklands project. Get the rules out and focus on wrapping up the existing projects. Darklands 2 is mostly done, but there's a ton that needs to be resolved for New Kindreds.

my brief review of the miscast bags

Well the postman has been and I can report

I'm more than happy with the Norse miscast bag (that bloodmaw body sure is a tricky one to cast from the number in there)..... The Norse are sponsored by the colour red

I'm delighted with the Ysian miscast bag (far more variety than the Norse, but then they are an older, more varied line so that's not surprising).... The Ysians are sponsored by the colour green

both contain more than enough to be good value for converters, home sculptors and diorama builders, the contents tend towards bits of the monsters and monstrous infantry, with some human sized minis (a miscast human arm is probably not worth saving most of the time)

but probably aren't worth getting if you are hoping to pick up a complete mini that just needs a bit of tidying up (these minis are in lots of separate bits so if one bit goes wrong that's the only bit that will be in the bag)

(and there are none of the big chunks of resin casting blocks/gates that sometimes appear in grab-bags so you get maximum value for your weight)

no Friday updates today

Mierce Miniatures about 1 hour ago

Right... no updates today guys, I'm super busy doing the rules. Something major is changing and I need to get it written down and sorted (for those who play, stamina is gone completely).

We do have some stuff to show - Wulfred (D:FE), Back-Cracker (D:MM), Cormac, Rudraige, Gol Gul (D:NK), Wyvern (from BB:MM) - but I have to concentrate on the rules I'm afraid.

There'll definitely be updates next week, and hopefully they will include Geraint on Ceffyldraig too...

Apologies to all who are keen to see WIPs!

sad panda is sad, but understanding on this break from the routine

Aw man, I've been wanting to see the Ceffyldraig since the campaign ran!

ANOTHER week? How will I live? At least that's one more model related to the Monstrous Mounts campaign coming close to an end.

Still need the lizard and birdy though.

Happy the rules are making progress.

sounds rather ominous.

It also sounds like something that might necessitate a lot of extra work, thereby possibly adding in more time to the rules project?

EDIT:

More tidbits!

Creator Mierce Miniatures about 2 hours ago

@Sven - yes, pretty much... although it will be more streamlined (that action matrix is a nightmare).

I'll be uploading the "The Battle" section shortly, so you can see the changes. I also have to update all of the actions and reactions, of course...

Creator Mierce Miniatures about 2 hours ago

The Battle: http://mierce-miniatures.com/darklands_first_edition/darklands_first_edition_04_the_battle_rules_v0.3.pdf

Note, also, how orders interact now...

Creator Mierce Miniatures about 2 hours ago

This is the final iteration (barring diagrams or errors) of the "The Battle" rules... so get used to it boys and girls ;o)

Creator Mierce Miniatures about 1 hour ago

@Sven - agreed. It was an experiment - simply because I was unhappy with the original "action matrix" (which will not appear again) - but we've deemed it too troublesome.

As an aside, the new way of activating units depending on their orders works really, really well... no more hanging back and waiting
!

EDIT!

I've no idea who this could be directed towards!

Creator Mierce Miniatures about 2 hours ago

Just for those who think it will necessitate extra work, it shouldn't - removing stamina won't take long. Should have that all done, plus a few new actions, by next week.

That's good to read!

Roll on June, and then whenever all the art and graphic design is done, and then the actual printing and mailing of rulebooks!

First of today's updates:

Wolfborn and Rules

With a week off, we come back with a strong update for you all - although it's probably the last "strong" update for this project, as there's only two miniatures left to sculpt, and one of those is a conversion!

There's also some changes afoot for the Darklands rules, as well as a few new actions to get your teeth into!

Anyway, this week there's:

sculpt work in progress images from Stéphane Simon;
a list of the miniatures that are currently being sent from Waves 5 and 6, and what will be sent in the next few waves;
updated lists of sculptors and sculpts;
more of the Darklands: First Edition rules;
downloadable versions of the current QuickStarter Rules, Muster Rules and Kindred Musters;

...and anything else you can expect from us over the next few months.

Here we go!

Gesith

There's just the one miniature to show this week, from Stéphane Simon... the last of the Gesith, which means the Wolfborn are complete!

The Wolfborn are now in our sweaty hands and we can report that they are even more amazing in the flesh. Stéphane Simon has worked wonders for us once more!

The Gesith banner bearer, Wulfred, is now complete... and he's brilliant!

The Wolfborn, Gesith unit will make it into Wave 7.

2nd update - Dragon Rider!

Dragon Steeds and Darklands Rules

Another Friday, another update - and this week we've some crackers!

sculpt work in progress images from Roberto Chaudon;
a list of what miniatures are currently being sent in their various waves;
an updated list of sculptors and sculpts for this project;
the latest snippet of the Darklands: First Edition rules;
downloadable versions of the current QuickStarter Rules, Muster Rules and Kindred Musters;

...and anything else you can expect from us over the next few months.

Let's begin!

Geraint Nerthol on his dragon steed, the Ceffyldraig

Fresh from his amazing work on Khallas, Roberto Chaudon has provided us with an early look at his latest masterpiece...

If we didn't know it before, we know it by now - Roberto is a genius. Just look at Geraint Nerthol on his dragon steed, the Ceffyldraig (pronounced "KE-fəl-drayg"). It's stunning!

It shouldn't be too long before Geraint on Ceffyldraig is done, but he won't be a Wave 7 shipment; we've too much stuff to send in Wave 7. So he'll be a Wave 8 guy!

Back-Cracking
0 Comments

We have a (literally) cracking update for you today, in the ghoulish shape of Back-Cracker and some rules...!

This week we have:

sculpt work in progress images from Yannick Fusier;
a list of what miniatures are sent in what waves, and that Wave 6 shipments have begun;
a list of sculptors and sculpts for this project;
the latest snippet of rules for Darklands: First Edition;
downloadable versions of the current QuickStarter Rules, Muster Rules and Kindred Musters;
...and anything else you can expect from us over the next few months.

Let's begin!

Back-Cracker

We have a miniature to show you, people... it's by Yannick Fusier and it's going to be amazing!

The amazing mole-rat beastie, Back-Cracker, is progressing very nicely indeed - thanks to Yannick Fusier's hard work!

Back-Cracker is going to be awesome, and he's about finished (although those teeth are missing!) so we think he might just make it into Wave 7. We'll see!

Even more stunners! Look at Nuala...

Albainn and Érainn

After a week's break, we have some stunning updates for you today on this here project... and what a lovely day for it, too!

This week we have:
•sculpt work in progress updates from Olivier Bouchet, Yannick Hennebo, Aragorn Marks and Valentin Zak;
•an updated list of sculptors and sculpts for this project;
•the latest snippet of the Darklands: First Edition rules;
•news of where you can download the current QuickStarter Rules, Muster Rules and Kindred Musters from the Mierce Miniatures website;
•...and anything else you can expect from us over the next few months.

Here we go...

We've more Érainn for you this week, by Valentin Zak and Yannick Hennebo; and we also have some Albainn by Olivier Bouchet and Jutes by Aragorn Marks!

Gudhlagg

Olivier Bouchet has started work on Gudhlagg, the Oghur warchief for the Albainn, and he's looking very impressive indeed! There's only one shot we can use so far, though.

It's early days for Gudhlagg but we think he'll make it into Wave 8...

Rudraige the Fat

Another early days work in progress shot, Rudraige the Fat has been started by Valentin Zak...

We do hope he'll make it into Wave 8 too.

Cormac of the Red Hand

Valentin Zak has completed Cormac of the Red Hand and he is brilliant. We love him! And Valentin!

Cormac should make it into Wave 7 now!

Nuala and Masked Nuala

Yannick Hennebo has long been one of our favourite sculptors, and when we managed to secure his services we rejoiced... but not as much as we rejoiced when we saw his best work for us so far, Nuala - because she is an absolute masterpiece of a sculpt!

Nuala should make it into Wave 7, as she's finished!

The Kickstarter exclusive version of Nuala, Masked Nuala, has also been completed...

https://ksr-ugc.imgix.net/assets/003/797/410/c7046d78a790c257a1c5cb1ef23c01bd_original.jpg?v=1431696123&w=700&h=&fit=max&auto=format&q=92&s=d01f6165764213da6a8c93619f1cf8b0

Again, she should make it into Wave 7.

Gol Gul

It's been a little while since we saw Gol Gul, but he's now sorted... thank you Aragorn Marks!

If you have a look at the components image, it can be seen that if you round off the leg pins, you should be able to easily move your spider's legs around a little to make a different pose.

Gol Gul should make it into a Wave 7 shipment, but we do have to print him yet so we'll see.

I agree that Nuala is very impressive looking. Too bad any paint I'd put on her would not do the sculpt justice.

The dragon rider / Cefflydraig isn't from the Monstrous Mounts campaign (maybe you just meant mounts that are monsters, though, in which case it definitely qualifies ).

I actually received Erebius on Behema from the Monstrous Mounts campaign this week, and it is absolutely brilliant! I'm extremely pleased with it, and Back-cracker is looking splended as a very far along WIP.

Actually the Brythoniaid mount was thrown in as an add on to the Monstrous Mounts, so we're both right.

I got it in the previous campaign as well, as it was actually cheaper in that campaign.

Mierceday! And look at that Dragonrider...

Horse-Dragons, Crocodiles and Sneaks

It's Friday, a long-awaited one, as we didn't do an update last week... because that is now the norm, Miercenaries; to get the rules done, we're going to have to reduce the amount of updates to one every two weeks.

It does mean that we get more to show on the updates, so it's not all bad!
•sculpt work in progress images from Roberto Chaudon, Benoît Cosse and Stéphane Simon;
•a list of what miniatures are currently being sent in their various waves;
• an updated list of sculptors and sculpts for this project;

•the latest snippet of the Darklands: First Edition rules;
•downloadable versions of the current QuickStarter Rules, Muster Rules and Kindred Musters;

...and anything else you can expect from us over the next few months.

Let's begin!

Geraint Nerthol on Ceffyldraig

Fresh from his amazing work on Khallas, Roberto Chaudon has provided us with an early look at his latest masterpiece...

As it's been a couple of weeks since the last update, the lovely Roberto Chaudon has now completed Geraint Nerthol on Ceffyldraig (pronounced "KE-fəl-drayg")... and... well... the results speak for themselves...

Here's a size comparison, too... bet you didn't think he was this size!

Geraint on Ceffyldraig is now complete, but he'll be a Wave 8 shipment...

Slaughterers

It's been a little while since we saw Benoît Cosse's work on the Slaughterers, but we're definitely getting there...

The last warrior of the unit, Maskó, is just about complete...

There's still a few things to sort on the previous two miniatures, but we're hopeful that the Slaughterers will be a Wave 8 shipment.

Shadows of Carn Bran

Fresh from completing the masterpiece unit of Gesith, the Wolfborn, Stéphane Simon has now turned his attention to this project and the Shadows of Carn Bran...

The first warrior in the unit, Gawen, is getting there...

The Shadows should be done for Wave 8...

Mole-Rats and Pig-Bogs

It's Friday, a long-awaited one, as we didn't do an update last week... because that is now the norm, Miercenaries; to get the rules done, we're going to have to reduce the amount of updates to one every two weeks.

It does mean that we get more to show on the updates, so it's not all bad!

This week we have:
•sculpt work in progress images from Yannick Fusier and Gautier Giroud;
•a list of what miniatures are sent in what waves, and that Wave 6 shipments have begun;
• a list of sculptors and sculpts for this project;

Let's begin!

This week we have two miniatures for the Monstrous Mounts, from two sculptors - Yannick Fusier and Gautier Giroud!

Back-Cracker

Yannick Fusier has performed wonders with his task on Darklands: Monstrous Mounts, because he has made short work of our mole-rat beastie, Back-Cracker, and it is utterly fantastic.

Here's a couple of shots of Back-Cracker's head. By gum we love this monstrosity!

Back-Cracker is just about finished, but he'll definitely be a Wave 8 shipment now. Next up for Yannick will be the mounted version with Blunt-Claw, his cauldron and his snacks...!

Beb on Pig-Bog

We decided to save Stéphane Simon's workload and, as Gautier Giroud was free, give Beb on Pig-Bog to him instead!

It's early days yet, as you can see, but we're hopeful that he'll be done for Wave 8...

It's all Érainn again - we didn't plan that, it's just how it's turned out... Valentin Zak and Yannick Hennebo bring us the goods!

Rudraige the Fat

Valentin Zak's been hard at work on Rudraige the Fat and he's looking brilliant!

We do hope he'll make it into Wave 8 too.

Caitrín

Fresh from completing a masterwork in Nuala, Yannick Hennebo has now completed the rather less svelte (but no less awesome for all that) Caitrín...

Caitrín should make it into Wave 8 now!

We've one finished miniature to show you this week by Tim Prow!

Ox-Gore

Tim's been hard at work on this guy and the results are very much worth it... the Ox-Gore is looking great!

If I remember after asking Rob, he had said the Ceffyldraig allows itself to be ridden. It's not just the general dude strapping a saddle on a wild animal.
