The peltasts are pretty cool looking, but sadly I don't see them being used often in game. The fact that they are incompatible with a War Convocation puts a huge dent in how good they are. The shot variety is nice, but in the end they aren't very tough, and the FT pod tactic is now illegal thanks to the GW FAQ

The thing to remember is that these are really meant to go with the whatever new list is coming with he next IA. I'm very hopeful we will get access to both of the mechanicum transports.

The other suprise that I'm most excited about is them being classified as Adeptus Titanicus faction. If I'm not mistaken, there is no way to take a bound skitarii + superheavy army with the exception of an oathsworn knight detachment. Even then though, the SH can't be your warlord. I'm really hoping for a list that accentuates the skitarii role as SH support troops. SOmethign that will let you build a list around a Titan or knight, making it your warlord. It's super fluffy and definitely the way I'd prefer to play skitarii. Grav is great and I love the kastelans but I really like skitarii much more than cult mech.

From the bulletin:

The Earth Caste have been hard at work, and so have the Forge World Studio. The Tau KX139 Ta’unar Supremacy Armour is getting even more firepower! Take a look…

I hear this incredible weapon will be available soon. If you want to get your hands on it first, then you'd best be at the Warhammer European Open Day coming up on the 1st October in Amsterdam!

That’s all from me for now. Make sure you check back soon for more from the Forge World Studio.

I wouldn't bet on the Secutarii sgts getting 2 wounds, Forgworld doesn't seem to like doing that for some reason. The Shadow Spectre Exarchs are 1 wound each as well, unlike all other Exarchs.

I like the missile rack on the Tau suit. Reminds me of the weapon on the old Therian heavy walker from AT-43:

Man, anyone remember when Forge World was all about the Imperial Guard? These days it seems to be mostly Marines and battlesuits, and most of their IG range has in fact been discontinued. I couldn't even tell you what the last Guard 40k release was (i.e. not Solar Auxilia).

All these Tau things are beginning to look quite samey to me. I'd rather see them do a new kind of alien auxiliary or something instead of Yet Another Railgun. But business is business.

The supply does not get to make the demands.

Are those missiles? I thought that was the other thing that was disregarded as junk. That looks like a capacitor or something to me.

Edit
This is the first time in ages any FW kit has been made with railguns. Also I can tell the differences quite well, but that is personal opinion and what I like. I can rarely tell space marines apart or chaos marines since they all look the same to me for the most part.

Edit2
The stats they gave the terrible downgrade missile system last month has me worried about this guns stats. If it turns out to be junk then I bought and drilling the back of mine for nothing. Also I suspect we'll see another Tau titan soon. It's one of their best selling models. Expect a whole range of them. :( I want my Tau SH Tank and helicopter gunship and auxiliaries.

FW has always done very well with Tau, yes. The Piranha was one of theirs originally, after all.

I thought they were some kind of power cells or something for the gun rather than missiles. I really like the new gun, I think it's my favourite of the 3.

Why do you think I'm magnetizing mine on the back? For this gun. I just hope its worth it. Visually it's the best looking of them. I also thought they were something like that.

Edit
If someone goes to the open day next month try ask them what stats the gun is going to have or they are planning on giving it. It needs to be damn good at allowing it to kill titans. Right now the Ta'unar is great at killing almost everything else but it needs an anti-titan loadout. The missile system stats were so bad its a joke.

Edit
Unless GW put out some new Tau models next year it looks like it will be a FW year. Going to grab a hard copy of Fires of Cyraxus, two Barracuda, two ion cannons, and the Railgun.

The towering God Machines of the Adeptus Titanicus can destroy companies of tanks, and bring fortifications to ruin, but if the enemy can get close enough even a lowly trooper can cause the Titan great harm. That's where the Secutarii Titan Guard come in...

Today you can order the brand new Secutarii Hoplites and Secutarii Peltasts Upgrade Kits. These kits each upgrade a unit of Adeptus Mechanicus Skitarii to be powerfully armed warriors of the Mechanicus, dedicated to defending their Titan charges with their advanced weapons and their very lives!

Each kit includes enough components to upgrade ten plastic models, as well as options for the unit Alpha. Order yours today!

Anyone know what legio are they supposed to represent?

I would guess Cyraxis, IIRC that's a forge world where the next IA book centers around, with tau against the local AdMech and Titan Legion, along with Crimson Scorpions, against Tau.

So far, we have no indication, that I'm aware of, of what the Titan Legion is, nor if their colors are different from those of the Forge World itself.

Almost tempted to model mine like this. Hahah. Or even better have the regular pulse drivers on the back and then the railgun there. Then for good measure replace the head with a hotwheels barracuda.

Looks like the landing pad today:

At least it gives those Thunderhawk and Stormbird owners an excuse to get their expensive shelf warmers out a bit more often.

Not random at all. It was previewed at their events, most people just forgot about it because there's less interest in scenery than in the latest space marine stuff.

As for the model itself, I like it (and had my eye on it back when it was first previewed). It's not as convenient as the old landing pad scenery they used to make since you have to use a whole 2x2 tile instead of just putting it on your existing table, but it looks good. If/when I get around to making a table I'll probably get a couple. My only concern would be how well the hollow resin holds up under the weight of a Thunderhawk/Marauder/etc, but I suspect it can probably be braced underneath the tile fairly easily.

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.
