For those of you tuning into the next Miss World beauty pageant looking to see some babes in bikinis, well, you're out of luck.
Organizers for the annual event, taking place this September in Bali, will be asking the 137 women competing to trade their two-pieces in for more conservative attire like sarongs for the beach fashion part of the show.
The move comes in an effort to not offend those in Muslim-majority Indonesia following protests from certain Muslim groups, CBS News reports.
NEWS: Miss Universe Canada names wrong contestant winner
"I don't want to upset or get anyone in a situation where we are being disrespectful," Miss World Organization chairwoman Julia Morley told Australia's Herald Sun. "We treasure respect for all the countries that take part in the pageant."
Last year, Lady Gaga was forced to cancel her concert in Jakarta after protestors from a religious group called the pop star "a messenger of the devil," claiming her "pornographic" dance moves and barely-there outfits would destroy the country's morals.

Thank you for beating me to it. Indonesia is hosting the damn thing... it's only fair they can make a call like this. Of course, from next year onwards, anything's game.
That being said. ...anyone know if Femen are aware of this yet...?

Planning on any huge protests, massive boycotts or acts of violence?

Then why should they care?

On a related note, so they still do Miss World huh? It seems so like 1970s.

I dunno about banning her on moral grounds, banning her on taste grounds however is definitely a good move.

I don't know why the organisers are surprised. They pick a conservative Muslim country to hold Miss World. A country that covers women up isn't going to be the best one to encourage stripping down to very little for a contest based on female objectification. I'm surprised that anyone watches Miss World any more so it doesn't really matter.

To be honest, I was surprised that an institution built on what I would consider dubious qualities would try to appeal to such conservative places as well.

That doesn't change the fact the the veneer they're trying to smear upon themselves annoys me.

Its moral values youngin. M World is effectively trying to do that to them. Have you never heard of the "when in Rome" phrase? (not the band).

Yeah which black tent looks best? The latest catagorie in miss world.

Though it does seem stupid to host the show in such a (religious) country anyway, knowing what things need doing and the organisers would be stupid not to expect a reaction.

Its not religion, its culture you imperialist running capitalist dog!
Its their culture. You saying their culture is wrong in this area is cultural imperialism you imperialist you.

You know calling a Brit an Imperialist, even in jest, seems more like a complement than an insult.

Poor oppressed native: GO home you imperalist.
Brit tourist: (images of Brittania Rex flashes in his head); Thanks!
