I've be watching some batrep and looking at other threads and saw my fellow Dark Angels, especially Ravenwing bikers, getting slaughtered by a helldrake. My question is how much of a threat is the helldrake and how do it kill it with my Dark Angels?

Depends on what kind of Angels you are running? If its bikes heldrakes will melt your bikes faster than you can blink an eye. Deathwing will enjoy the warm fuzzy feeling and then go on their merry skull crushing way.

So Deathwing then? How will my normal troops far? And how do I kill it?

If it's T4 and has a 3+ save, the Helldrake will scare it.

If they bring multiple heldrakes then your normal troops will die quickly and horribly.

Well to be honest outside of imp guard hydras there is no sure fire way to deal with them. First thing I would do it get an aegis defense line and a quad gun. 2nd would be maybe some devastators with flak missiles although the heldrake will just cook those. You could try the Dark Angel flyers but they are not that good. If you were to go with a death wing army I would say ignore them.

Heldrakes are the most op flyer in the game, don't let the vendetta haters fool you, with the game moving to mass foot infantry nothing is better than a heldrake

So, line and devastors, will hopefully be enough to kill it, but if they die the rest of the army will burn?

I just had an idea. How about a Deathwing squad with and assault cannon and cyclone missile launcher. They deepstrike and are twin linked giving them a good chance to hit. Also a libby with prsidence. Would be effective?

A techmarine with PFG (2+ save) manning an ADL with lascannon. I normally stick with the quad-gun but this is one of the few instances where the lascannon is superior (due to AV12 on the Drake). Add a TDA libby with Prescience and for the cherry on top: Mortis Contemptor with TLLC and CML... Poof goes the Helldrake

These are obviously just some of the options available to DAs, they do cost quite a bit (specially the Contemptor) but DAs are quite lacking in the AA department...

Heldrake does what heldrake pleases. Take a quad gun and/or imperial guard Allies or take deathwing and pray your opponent left his Oblits at home.

If you are really scared of it, ally with tau and take all missilesides with missiles and interceptor and a puretide commander. It will down a heldrake a turn. That's only for extreme cases though. Depends on how scared you actually are of it
