I have no idea if this the corrcet forum for this, but here gos.

I recently bought some old (well, unused) Space marines from a mate of mine. After looking over the Codex, I realised they werent actually legally loaded-out beyond a Tac w/ PlasPistol, ML & Plasma or Flamer, making the other 15 models more than a little useless in the big picture (as in legal models, but not enough of them to do *anything* with). I have already taken a few of them apart

As soon as I figure out how to add photos I will do, but Ive got:

11 Bolters
plasma
Flamer
ML
7 'sergeant'-type things with pistol+Chainsword
3 Assault Marines
and some random geezer with a large sword & a SS, no idea what it is as I cant find an actual model of it.

Ive also got some CSM bits to add for flavour, which includes another Plasma, Flamer, 3x Swords & a handful of pistols

i will also be getting a Stormraven before too long

So, what I am asking is: what should I try and turn these things into?

Strip the paint of it all and try to dismantle it as you go, fairy power spray is my favorite for that.
Anything glue with superglue will come apart, plastic glue on the otherhand, well many say GW gluw is pants and i agree, my models fell apart, a reputable brand of plastic glue and well.. theyre stuck that way.
careful knife or saw work can get them in pieces again.

Build up what you can make thats useful, save the other bits, and get to a bits seller on ebay or some website that are easy to find, and fill it out without buying a whole box set with the parts you actually want. Then proceed as normal buying brand new or 2nd hand models from your favorite place.

You could pick up some jump packs and make the sergeant types into assault marines to add to the 3 you have already.

The guy with the sword and shield might be a company champion or an Emperor's Champion?

Where would I find on eof those, as I cant see any characters that look remotely like this guy

He might just be out of production mate.
Theres been lots int he passed limited orun ones, old casts that the molds worn out on, ones replaced with new styles etc.
Good chance its one of those or just an obscure one. He could represent you character for all you like If you want to arm him thatway of course.

but this one's disfigured, could be due to obscene ammounts of glue & multiple coats of slightly-gone-off paint though, as the last thing I bought off him wasnt great (Pirahna that had a wing fall off when a dice landed on it...) so I wouldnt put it past poor modelling

Those champions are either part of the command squad or the honour guard that can be choosen from the HQ section(but don't count towards the max HQ choises) depending on the hq you use.

Use those 7 chainsword + pistol as assault marines you just need the backpacks. The plasma pistol guy can be turned into either a tac or assault sergeant.

Or if you want to use the champion look what either honour guard or command squad can do for you and build a squad of those.

Ok, so I have made a 5-man Sternguard squad out of reposing arms to hold Bolters like pistols, and given them Chainswords. (Will add pics once I figure out how, if someone could tell me I'd appreciate it)
