Giving serious though to picking this tomorrow, and should be able to try out a friend's copy tonight. In the meantime, is anyone else considering this or able to offer opinions on it?
Looks a bit like the combat from Uncharted in more of a grimdark setting, and with more gore...

I just picked it up on my way into work. I've got plans all afternoon, but will sit down with it for a bit tonight. I'm really looking forward to it. The only game this summer really.
I've been highly impressed with the game after playing ti a little, and I'll probably pick it up tomorrow. I think they've handled the horror side quite well. The two basic types of zombies are "runners," essentially berserk humans you can fight normally, and "clickers" that can't see you but can hear you, so it's possible to sneak round them. There's also a lot of fighting against uninfected humans.
The stealth is pretty smooth and didn't feel forced, though it can be a little maddening because the clickers can one-shot you if they manage to grapple, unless you have a specific item that fends them off (and the item is limited use).
Friendly AI is generally good and can actually be helpful sometimes, which is a good thing really since you've lamost always got companions. The art and sound are especially atmospheric, but that didn't surprise me with it being Naughty Dog.

So far, it's like Uncharted 3 was the tough between two awesome games from Naughty Dog. I can forgive a sub par UC 3 is it was because they were diverting resources to this.

Heard some truly great things about this game, and from the preview it looks like it will definitely be worth playing. Have to finish Dark Souls first however, so might be a while..

I liked the look of the game but I'm utter crap at any game where I have to conserve ammo. I'm total garbage at resident evil and I suspect at this as well. I do love to watch my buddy play. The guys a magician with a combat knife.

A top tip for this game is if you are low on ammo save one bullet in the gun you are using. The next guy you kill will drop some spare ammo for you.

Zombies are the dead returned to life. These are humans infected with a disease.
Yes, and how many zombie games/movies use the infected route? Oh yeah, almost all of them.
And they're only zombies in that geek culture defines any human infected is a disease that spreads it vie fluid transfer as a zombie. Half the worlds population is a zombie.
They're humans infected witha fungal disease. Some are worse than others, almost becoming all fungus. Some actually become a fungal growth stuck to a wall. Most people aren't even infected by being bitten - they're infected by breathing airborne spores.
They're not zombies.

This would have saved me so much ammo early on. I had no idea bricks were melee weapons. I thought they were just tools for 'throw there to make sound there'.

Runs like a zombie, attacks like a zombie, looks like a zombie. For gameplay purposes they are zombies regardless of how you try to twist it.
The zombies in Left 4 Dead were "infected", but they were still zombies.

Beat it yesterday. Pretty good game, although it does get repetitive and starts to overstay its welcome at some points. I was playing on hard mode, and it was a decent challenge, although the scarcity of ammo (seriously, what happens to the guns of everyone that I kill?) turns it into more of a choking simulator than anything else.
The story made me think of "Children of Men with zombies" more than anything else, but the ending was actually pretty heavy. Not sure what I would have done in that situation.
When I first started this, I thought it was a case of The Emperor's New Clothes. Yes, the story is well told and the characters are interesting and well-written, but at the same time, it's also supposed to be a game, and there was an awful lot of wandering along chatting with only the occasional bit of climbing, easy sneaking or rifling through cupboards to break it up. The early parts where you're with Tess sneaking round the docks looking for some bloke she wants to take revenge on I found to be very dull going.
I'm glad I stuck with it. It's my opinion that the plot didn't really get moving until after (major spoiler)

After that the pacing is much better, though some bits feel a bit overlong. However, I find that after that point the slower parts actually fit in very well, coming as they do between the more frantic bits.

Same as Fezman, i've been impressed by the graphics and stuff thus far but the gameplay has been a bit flat, i'm not up to the part that he also mentions (curse you inquisitive nature!) so hopefully have the same outcome after getting beyond that.

By the time I reached the end, I was playing for the story and to see what happened to the characters. I was starting to get tired of the actual gameplay (it was getting pretty samey). So now, I don't feel like I can be bothered to play through again.
So I would say it's worth playing through once.Worth playing twice? I don't know, maybe not for me but I can understand why other people would want to. As for the opinion I've seen that it is the game of the generation, I can't agree with that at all (for me that honour probably goes to Dark Souls).
