I'm new on here and just wanted too know who you lot think is the best shooty HQ !

Really depends on the army and how we are defining 'shooty'.

For exampe, Farsight for the Tau is not personally very shooty, but using him gives you one of the best deep strike shooting threats in the game.

He even has trick ammo for all kinds of targets..from infantry to av 14 he's got the right golf club.

Lelith Hesperax firing the Krakstorm missile of a fortress of redemption. its a Str 8 AP 3 large blast that goes EXACTLY WHERE YOU WANT IT . I would say that the galaxies greatest gladiator's BS of 9 feels a little bit wasted otherwise...

Telion's not bad, his BS comes in handy. I'm also surprised no one has thrown a vote in for a Vindicare.

One nameless Vindicare, out of all the other options mentioned here, only Ra'lai can pen AV14, and only the Vindicaire can do it efficiently.

Also..in a IC vrs IC knock up as the OP kinda implied...Ra'lai has preferred enemy IC, with his JSJ and invul save and a bunch of other shenanigans, he still stands in my opinion as the best "shootie" HQ character..since that's all he does.

I use him quite a bit, and other than his last outing that he never seemed to kill what he hit (due to bad dice), he always is a performer.

Ork Big Mek with a Shokk Attack Gun. He can hide in a unit of Gretchin in terms of using a meatshield, give himself a cybork body and Power Klaw/Burna for some close-quarters protection while providing beautiful long-ranged AP2 Large Blast Ordnance goodness every turn. Even in terms of random strength the majority of the time S7 is pretty good and I often roll higher than that. That and the times when you do roll double 6's (remove anything under the template from the game or an auto-pen against vehicles) you can use the ammo runt for extra accuracy insurance or in the case of double 1's (remove everything including vehicles) it can potentially wipe out any close-by enemy melee unit within D6". I had this happen one time when a Land Raider Redeemer outflanking with Ko'sarro Khan and his accompanying terminators came in that turn from his flank and when I tried to shoot them they all got promptly sucked into a massive warp-rift. Ah, good times!

I almost forgot, Im going to have to go with Longstrike, hes a character upgrade on a hammerhead, meaning hes firing a BS5 Str 10 AP1 gun that can also fire large blasts, with tank hunters, AND he can overwatch all day.

Hes pretty much auto include on a hammerhead when I run rail guns, being a bargain on points on top of everything!

I play guard, and the shootiest guy we got is, again, Marbo.

BS5 and comes with his own AP2 sniper pistol. The only low down is well, it's a sniper weapon, so you only got 50% chance of causing a wound.

A Flyrant with two sets of Brainleech Devourers will feth up any AV value, though some of it not with shooting, and it's anti infantry firepower is nothing short of punishing.
