How many seconds does it take you to find a chess board?

I takes me longer to vote in the poll and type a response then it would for me to get my hands on a chess board. The Boy has a set just across the room. It would take me longer to dig one up out of the basement, but I have one or two sets kicking around.

I was in the chess club in high school, might still theoretically have a national ranking number (we all signed up). I hardly play anymore. But I do know how to play, and is someone asked, could set up a board and give a reasonable showing.

I played competitively in Junior High and High School but got really burnt out on it, and haven't played it since.

I recently got back into with a few buddies and we play a few times a week.

I don't play chess at work. I play annoy the associate.

I used to play chess but the Boy was just too brutal and life and has not been kind to the old brain cells.

It's sitting there on the windowsill. I play against my brother from time to time, and a few friends.

My roommate and I play on occasion. Normally when we're both at work, and both of our jobs are slow at the same time

My wife has a nice Lewis set about 5 ft away from me. I used to have about 8 boards for some reason, including about 2 or 3 of those magnetic travel sets.

Haven't played for years other than once against my wife a couple of years ago.

I was in the chess team of my primary school, though quit because despite being in a team which won every single game, because we were registered as the second team (chess was quite popular at my primary school), we didn't get any kind of prize at all. Kind of rubbed me the wrong way

I have one in the pile of board games, a nice one soapstone one my grandparents got me from Mexico in my bedroom, and then I'm working on building one with 40k miniatures for pieces.

I haven't actually played in a couple years. :/

Played a little bit when I was younger but was never any good at the game.

Takes me 7.85 second to sprint over and grab my House of Staunton Mahogany Casket chess set.

When I was younger I won several state chess tournaments but now I have (obviously) transferred over to 40k.

I have a beautiful glass and pewter set in the next room. All the pieces are dragon-esque and the base is an elaborate graveyard of some battle. Very beautiful.

My only regret is how little I use it.

It would take me less than 2 seconds currently, I have about 3 (maybe more) within 2 metres of me.

Is that sad, seeming I'm currently at home?

I have a nice board somewhere, but I'd need to dig a bit to find it. I used to play a decent bit in high school, but like some others, I got burnt out on it.

I'd play again, if someone was up for a game, and I've played a couple games in the last few years. There are a lot of other games I'd rather play though, given the choice.

I got a nice Glass set my parents got me for Christmas when I was just a wee lad.

I have it in a drawer on my bookshelf/entertainment center.

Chess is what my best friend and his dad used to get me into 40k back when I was in middle school.

Cheap, chipped plastic Staunton set on a beat up board- my main traveling set-30 seconds, as the board and pieces are in two rooms.

LotR Chess set- 10 seconds

Mums wooden chess set- 10 seconds

Incidentally, I am also carving my own set- and it qualifies as "working".

I used to like playing chess a lot, but nobody in my family except two people had the patience for it, and those two people had played enough chess to last several lifetimes.

It ended up being me trying to play chess, and everyone else telling me to hurry up.

I lack the patience for a game like chess.

I play casually, when my I can convince a family member to - for some reason, they always seem reluctant to play Chess against me... I do tend to win when we do play though...

Same happened with "Risk" actually - I kept winning, and then no-one else wanted to play... Funny how that works

Its been a while since I last played a game, but I rather enjoyed playing chess, even came close to placing in a couple of state level tourneys ages ago.

Now? I play 40k, since no-one I know is interested in playing anymore (my old man stopped being able to beat me nearly 12 years ago, he says teaching me to play chess was the biggest mistake of his life).

That being said, about 5 seconds to get my hands on my brass and felt set.
