I've been working on my Dakkajet over the last couple of days
I'm generally happy with it but not so sure about a couple of things on the wings.
Firstly the large red flaps that are currently blank I feel need something more to help break them up, I'm pondering teeth Glyphs such as the glyph for Grim.
Secondly the green fire effect on the other wing flaps I'm not sure is that great.
Once the Glyphs are done I'll weather, wash and highlight.
As I'm just about to go to bed more Pics can be found on my Blog at http://paintstationforge.blogspot.co.uk/2013/07/dakkajet-wip.html any feedback gratefully accepted.

Very cool paint job. I think the red fire is a great addition and I agree that a simple symbol or 2 woukd help break up the red flap a bit more. Look forward to seeing it finished.

Update. Done some more work this morning.
This is as it stands bar the fact I've added Tooth glyphs to the wing flaps as can be seen on the jet's right wing photo below.
I now have two options for the flames there is the simpler left wing pattern and the more detailed right. in my eyes both have pros and cons so any thoughts would be handy.
Jet's Left Wing
Jet's Right wing
I describe the process I went though to get from the last stage to this on my blog if people are interested.

Finished weathering the jet and after a OH MY GOD it's so dark moment last night it's grown on me and I'm now happy with it.
For more blarb from me about it I've made another blog post, including plans for Grots.

I wasnt so keen on its cleannnnesnnnesssness in the first photo...... But that weathering!!! lookss sick. That is in my opinion a fantastic paint job all over. The flames, the patterns and glyphs.... everything about it is wicked.
Congradulations on a fantastic piece of work. Now my only question is..... do you have a tutorial for that weathering?! I have never tried it but am a convert!

Thanks for the comments the jet if finished going to photo it this afternoon. Though Only needed the pilot and glass adding so not a massive change.
This was a good video for using a sponge.
http://thepaintingcorps.blogspot.co.uk/2011/07/friday-quick-tip-sponge-weathering.html
I basically practiced on an old Gorka Morka truck I've been testing things on and a rough description of how I did it can be found on my blog post.
http://paintstationforge.blogspot.co.uk/2013/07/dakkajet-wip-2-weathering-done.html
The weathering was achieved by sponging on Abaddon black followed by Scorched brown and finally bestial brown. after this chips of silver where layered up with GWs 3 new colours.
Then came a full wash of Agrax earthshade across the whole Jet.
After some edge highlights the final stage was carried out with Nuln Oil. At least that's what it said on the pot. I have a nasty feeling that I ran out of Nuln oil at some point and used some watered down acrylic artist ink to fill up the pot.
As you can see the jet is now very dark.
At first I was royally pissed at how dark it came out and in attempts to clean it up a bit managed to rub some of the ink off in a couple of spots (most noticeably the Jet's left wing) in fear or ruining it and as it was getting late last night I went to bed.
Seeing the results in the day it's no where near as bad as I first thought and it's now growing on me. While a lot of the colour variation in the highlighting of the metal and weathering has been diminished but not as badly as it appeared last night with my single daylight bulb and normal indoor lighting.
Even the areas where it looks like it's been cleaned up has given me an idea.....
Grotz hanging on for dear life, to look like the plane took off while they were working on the plane. The Stompa kit comes with a couple of promising poses that I am thinking of magnetising to help with tracking Hull points. By using two I can take one off each time a HP is lost unless there is none left to take at which point it's on it's last HP.
This will help make the cleaner areas look like they where intended and give some Orkyness to the model.
Now its all finished bar the Grots I'm really chuffed with it and can't wait to use it (I may have all ready run round the house a few times going NEEEERRRRR DAKA DAKA DAKA a lot.)
final pics for now will be soon.

Last post on this for now then. As the plane is all done, until I decide how I'm going to properly base my Orks (which will be to match the tablescape scrapyard boards when they arrive and I have a play).
Enjoy.
and because I can
and as always more fluff and waffle from me on my blog along with my next Orky build.
