It gets quiet in my room while I'm painting, I thought I'd turn to my fellow Dakkanauts and ask what shows are nice to have on while painting. Since I'm actually doing something else, I guess I'm asking for something good that won't demand my full attention so I imagine comedies would fit in nicely but I'm open to anything else. Thanks.
any show I'm not really paying attention to on netflix/crunchyroll... Mostly for background noise. Documentaries, shows I've watched/love, and solid action/fantasy/sci-fi movies

I've been watching Sons of Anarchy on Netflix while I paint/model. Its a great background. I've also been going through all the old Star Treks, although those periodically have enough that require visual attention that I'm considering removing them from my painting list.
Shows:
Big Bang Theory - do not need to see it, dialogue is great.
Game of Thrones - Can follow by dialogue but such a shame.
Sons of Anarchy - Has a brutal Orkish quality (or Dark Eldar?)
Dexter - Controlled mayhem?
Breaking Bad - When someone has nothing to lose.
Dr Who - For that goofy Sci-Fi to remind you to not take 40k seriously. I WILL make a TARDIS and plunk it down on the battlefield.
Anyway, some ideas.

Stargate SG-1 has helped me paint a few armies. Fringe helped me paint models while out of town. Psych helped me paint an entire army but might have slowed me down just a little.
Best is good shows that you can mostly ignore.
Best Painted (2015 Adepticon 40k Champs)
They Shall Know Fear - Adepticon 40k TT Champion (2012 & 2013) & 40k TT Best Sport (2014), 40k TT Best Tactician (2015 & 2016)
old Doctor Who episodes. They were almost written to be radio shows and not being glued to the screen means you may miss some of the more cringe-worthy effects.

I will put on Star Trek: TNG a lot of times when i'm painting (netflix) and just let it run... Seen them enough that I don't feel the need to focus on it, but is entertaining.
The key I feel is a show you love, but have seen enough of to not be glued to whats happening on screen. Myself I often watch M*A*S*H. Seen them all enough to where I can listen and know whats going on and still be entertained

Whoever said podcasts has the right idea. Something that's easy to listen to, and doesn't require your full attention. I usually listen to the Old XFM shows with Ricky Gervais in, or one of the SMODCAST podcasts, just a few guys chatting and chilling.
Whatever I'm watching/listening to usually forms memories connected to what I was painting. Sometimes I will catch an episode of something and suddenly remember vividly several layers of some specific model from 2 years ago.

The Stand made for TV mini series is one of my favorite things to have playing ine background while modelling/ painting. Although my first suggestion is actually your favorite novel(s) on audio book.

It demonstrates an effort made to be understood, and to make your post an easy and pleasant read. By making this effort, you can often elicit more positive responses from the community, and instantly mark yourself as someone worth talking to.

I recently watched most of the first 5 seasons of Madmen while painting. It was a present and not really my thing or so I thought; it turned out to be as good as they say and made for most unproductive painting sessions!

I find this to be a terrible suggestion! Not because it's a bad mini series, but because I love it so much and I couldn't concentrate on painting if it was on the TV. I usually listen to cartoons while painting: old Justice League, Batman, X-Men or Spiderman. All on Netflix, except Batman-but those DVD box sets aren't too expensive at FYE (used) or at Walmart ($20).

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

e put on those obnoxious History channel shows that repeat themselves 6 or 7 times before a commercial and then when it comes back on they recap on the things that they repeated several time just a moment ago.
I couldn't listen to music while I painted, if I started to get into it I would find my painting would mimic the music that was on. I had some models that I did while listening to classical and they came out fantastic, but took longer. On the other hand if I was listening to something like Mudvayne or something I would be knocking out marines in 20 min but they looked terrible..
