What is the best way to get 6 or more meltaguns? It is $15 for 1 Plasmagun and 1 Meltagun from Games-Workshop...and I am looking at 3 meltaguns per squad.

Those are 5 for $17, so probably $12 or something over there, which isn't too awful, but maybe an online bits seller will be able to do you one better on that pack? If not, it's not terrible value for one of the most useful weapons in the Imperial arsenal

I wish I had time for all the game systems I own, let alone want to own...

Can I just get the 5 pack of meltaguns for $10? Would that work for imp guard?

Yeah they work fine.

You can do a few things to make them more IG if you want. Cut off the marine hand of course, run a wire from the gun to a backpack to make it look bulkier and cruder, but they work fine as is.

I just convert them. There are some good threads on this in dakka.

Yeah, there's no real reason not to get the 5-pack anymore. Back when they were in metal, I was definitely willing to pay more to get them in plastic, but now that they're in resin they're an awful lot easier to hack down to fit into a guardsman's arms.

I just used suggestions from Snrub's special weapons conversion guide. They look the part when painted up! I make mine by chopping some russ multimelta guns I had (I have quite a few spares for some reason) in half, sticking them on the end of a Lasgun and then using the barrel I cut off as the fuel cannister. As an added touch I use the cabling on the servo-skulls you get with the command pack for the tubes on the meltagun. Took me like 10 minutes to whip up a squads worth and most of that time was spent bending the cables.

I used the forgeworld plasma guns with my vets and they work fine so the meltas should be good too. I plan on getting some at some point.

Plus, they look better than the standard GW ones in my opinion.

“Because we couldn’t be trusted. The Emperor needed a weapon that would never obey its own desires before those of the Imperium. He needed a weapon that would never bite the hand that feeds. The World Eaters were not that weapon. We’ve all drawn blades purely for the sake of shedding blood, and we’ve all felt the exultation of winning a war that never even needed to happen. We are not the tame, reliable pets that the Emperor wanted. The Wolves obey, when we would not. The Wolves can be trusted, when we never could. They have a discipline we lack, because their passions are not aflame with the Butcher’s Nails buzzing in the back of their skulls.
The Wolves will always come to heel when called. In that regard, it is a mystery why they name themselves wolves. They are tame, collared by the Emperor, obeying his every whim. But a wolf doesn’t behave that way. Only a dog does.
That is why we are the Eaters of Worlds, and the War Hounds no longer."
