CMON AND GUILLOTINE GAMES ANNOUNCE ZOMBICIDE 2ND EDITION
Jul 31, 2019
Zombicide, the board game, has taken the world by storm with over 2 million copies sold since its release in 2012 and spawning a cult franchise of cooperative zombie slaying all over the world. In 2020, prepare for Zombicide 2nd edition!

In Zombicide, zombies are controlled by the game, while players take on the role of Survivors who must cooperate in order to survive and thrive in a world overrun by the bloodthirsty undead. Find guns and gear to take the fight to the zombies through 25 different scenarios linked by a branching story as you pick your way through an infested city.

Returning players will find that the classic rules have been refined, streamlining game play and getting into the thick of the action faster than ever before! Veteran zombie hunters will still be able to use their current collections as updates will be available.

Along with an emphasis of story-driven, interconnected missions, Zombicide has all new components and award-winning miniatures, including plastic dashboards and six new child Survivors for players to choose from. The horrific and monstrously massive Abomination zombies return, except now there are twice as many ready to feast on player brains.

Thiago Aranha, senior producer at CMON, said about the new edition, “We’ve gone through every aspect of the game, from making doors easier to work, to updating how the car drives on the board, to reworking target priority for ranged attacks and adding in dark zones that will hide zombies from survivor’s bullets, looking at where we could improve and make the Zombicide game experience all that it could be. We’re very proud with how this new edition has turned out, and it’ll provide all the thrill of Zombicide yet challenge returning players in new ways.”

This new edition of Zombicide will be coming to Kickstarter in 2020.

Plenty of advance warning on this one so time to put that $400+ all in pledge money aside . Invader is shipping this week so that ones nearly out of the way. That's going to be some upgrade pack to bring all the old stuff over to 2nd Edition.

I'd buy a hardcover book of the new rule system and upgrade cards. But how many heroes have there been at this point? 150? More? I'd really like to see them focus on something else for expansions this time around.

The main game is the only game I support from CMON besides Kaosball(which they should've expanded instead of Arcadia Quesrt). Only thing they'll upset me into selling it is if they made the upgrades KS exclusive....

Come to think of it, whatever happened to the Night of the Living Dead version?

When we reach $1,150k we will unlock for all backers the contents for an expansion, Wildland, including a Storybook and cards.

Wildland is an expansion in which a brand new campaign, with 10+ stories, covers the development of the political tensions and the infestation of enemies and creatures. Form allegiances with new barbaric heroes, choose your place in the dispute, and decide the destiny of the Wildland.

well they're trying to stop the rot, with an intermediate stretch goal,

They seem to be celebrating on the KS right now because of the new stretch goal. Not sure I quite get why, all they did was toss in a booklet and some cardboard pieces they had planned as a stretch goal a bit early. Nobody but the severest of CMON fanbois are going to change their mind about this campaign over a booklet and they're already sold anyway. This core pledge lacks value, it wasn't a booklet away from that being solved. LOL

What is the ‘value’ that you’re looking for in the core pledge?

I hold stuff like Massive Darkness as my baseline CMON figure- heavy game.

I felt there was a lot of bang included for your buck there. Other good value markers would be both Black Plague/ Green Horde, and for me at least, Bloodborne (despite the sucky shipping and piles of expansions).

When your core set pledge has plenty of extra boxes included because there's too much swag, that's the point where I can't help myself any more.....

Trudvang still has a ways to go for me at least.

Poorly lit photos of my ever- growing collection of completely unrelated models!

Obviously relative to dollars asked, I would say I wanna see at least 25 more minis and the connected story materials that go with them for a $100 Kickstarter game. I'd think one main campaign at about 15 hours and three smaller campaigns at 4-5 hours each would be quite acceptable for amount of gameplay. But at least tell me I'm going to get 75 minis for that $90-100 year-long loan plus $20-100 shipping fee. Preferably more, a lot more, but at least 75.

Because it's a narrative driven game so this expansion is nothing but good. I get wanting lots of plastic and that the offering isn't to your liking but, seriously, acting like people are idiots for liking the gameplay and wanting more of it is kind of childish.

And the Wildland expansions did seam to work as it's unlocked and now they're to every 10k unlocks for SG with a new female range at 170 after the undead dragon.

Being able to get everything printed and available to the masses. Stores are generally selling through stuff pretty well, new people won’t have to hunt everything down at multiple places. It’s a guaranteed sell with a proven name, and they will make money. It may not be for you, but there’s plenty of people who will buy it up and their bottom line will be boosted.

Ya, what about it? CMoN has made a lot of dumb mistakes in this campaign and have phoned it in mostly. There's a lot of valid ways to o complain about it but going after the backers by mocking and laughing at them. Theres no excuse for that and it's sad that it was allowed here.

I'm gonna guess CMON is more interested in whale-hunting, with the Bloodborne "All in One" and shipping costs, which encouraged buying more expansions. So, with the Trudvang EB's dropping out, and internet comments being more of a vocal minority, any frickin' bone is better than nothing. Shipping prices *have* been increasing, so I don't particularly blame KS moving from a "value" model to a "deluxe" model. Retail prices are dropping for games, thanks, Amazon, and $100+ for a boardgame was even high when KS first started. So, if your audience is nothing but $100+ backers, next step is to go after the $300+ ones, I suppose. CMON certainly has the numbers to know how good of an idea this is.

So the Zombicide electronic table was announced, and now 2nd edition. I'm also going to guess (all my guesses have been easy, I suppose) that CMON hasn't found a new franchise to dry up, and they're still going at it with Zombicide. (I'd like to see the Night of the Living Dead version, though... ) Arcardia Quest's gone through pets and space, and Massive Darkness wasn't well-received by BGG for its post-funding rules changes. (At 4M, maybe Bloodborne will have a sequel, for The Hunters of Old Legend (?) content that wasn't part of the BB campaign?) Trudvang's also already doing better than Munchkin Dungeon, Project: Elite, and Starcadia Quest. I'm guessing yet again that it will do better than HATE and Song of Ice and Fire.

In any case, this is a niche game and there aren't too many like it, so I'd think that anyone who wants the game would have pledged by now.

You're probably right, it feels like the rules have changed, unannounced of course but clearly changed. And I'm missing the Kickstarter of old. 2017 started as such a banner year for CMON, part of me thinks that they've been chasing that Rising Sun campaign model ever since and it's just not working out for them. Fewer minis, Eric Lang, lots of hype about gameplay... except Rising Sun was a one time thing that cashed in the pent-up success of Blood Rage and had their mini designers producing some of the company's best work. They've been treading water up until Bloodborne, which was a video game IP, had a ton of minis, and looked like the CMON of old.

A switch to a KS model based on getting just the people with good money, or FOMO issues, to go all-in could be what they want at this point. Sort of like how phone games are almost entirely aimed at the 5% of the population who have impulse control problems. But even with this campaign the add-ons don't have KS Exclusive stuff and people in the comments were mentioning/complaining how they don't need to buy them now. So it's muddled as to what exactly CMON wants, although I definitely think there's an audience out there who just love the hype and excitement of crowdfunding campaigns and love the idea of buying exclusive, one-time-available stuff, even if they don't particularly like the game being sold.

And maybe I should add generally, I'm cool with more gameplay content being added to Trudvang, though I take it as a given the game should come with lots of scenarios, but we're talking about gameplay that people keep asking to see in action because the rulebook and video barely show it off, or perhaps do show off that there's really not much to it. CMON saying they're adding a booklet of scenarios, I didn't think that was gonna wow people, and I was right, a mere $2,200 on the day, -190 backers, and today we're -$600 and -60 backers. So -250 backers with that announcement, I didn't think that was really the turnaround they were thinking it was, not that they're clueless or like dumb things.

Night of the living dead Zombicide was in development hell apparently as the designers could not put a good Night of the Living Dead spin on the ruleset. May still resurface but getting increasingly unlikely.

It is funny because the Baratheons are the only force I feel like I can give a pass too. They just aren't really grabbing me for whatever reason. Well, that and the Night's Watch seige units.

The grey ones are grey because they are resins so don't read anything into the colour the redish tint on the left is just a trick of the light.

The middle group with the sitting guy are Neutral Heroes 2 and that's Walder Frey sitting with Bronn to the right these will be brown in plastic.

Spoiler:

The second picture are Baratheons most likely a separate heroes box these will be yellow plastics. It looks like a mixed Stannis/Renly set. The woman and child are Selyse and Shireen Baratheon. That's probably Margaery & Loras Tyrell on the right as they would be with Renly at this time. Front right looks like Davos Seaworth the left hand on the sword is missing the fingers (hmmm Davos lost his right fingers as he was left handed a mistake? )

Only bear I can remember is the one Jamie and Brienne fight but that might be a Free Folk Warg set given the wolf and birds.

Very back group is Dothraki but I only recognise Strong Belwas the fat guy with the Dothraki Arakh if he's there Arstan Whitebeard is likely there as well. 1 might be Viserys Targareon and far left might be Sir Friend Zone (Jorah Mormont) on foot as he's similar to the mounted version.
