With all the of porn bans on one thread and murder in the streets on others, I thought it would be a good time to talk about kill counts in various movies. I'll amend this post a bit to specify we aren't talking about abstract kills, like a planet blowing up, etc., but kills that can be on screen attributed to an individual use the clip in this post as a template for what the standard is on this thread.

I'll start off with one of the ones that started it all, "The Wild Bunch":

The movies that have high kill counts all feature epic fight scenes and thus take any sort of fun out of the body count...

I believe that is counting on-screen deaths. Not implied in the distance ones.

Didn't the most recent Rambo movie have tons of deaths? I remember hearing it was high on the "Most kills" list, mostly because of the final fight scene where Rambo is on a mounted .50 cal machine gun.

While none of the movies individually come close to making the list, I have to give kudos to this site for thoughtfully giving us Rambo's kill counts with shirt off and shirt on.

This should be a whole lot higher... I mean, you have the massacre at Karak, the Siege of Jerusalem, the raid on the caravan, the "new king" marching his army off stupidly into the desert to be slaughtered. Literally bodies lying everywhere, many more of them dying on screen, even if it's not front and center the absolute focus on camera, there is a lot of unimplied death going on.

From what I read, only the deaths that are actually seen on screen count - nothing implied.

What about the classic Hong Kong action Chow-Yun Fat movie 'Hard Boiled'. I think I sat down once and counted the deaths, can't remember the exact total but it was well over a hundred.

If you only count on screen deaths some movies are surprisingly low.

The Rambo movies are actually fairly low on the body count as far as movies go. Especially if you take an average. the first movie had only 1 death IIRC.
