Hello All,

This is something I have been wondering about for a while.

What sort of music do you like to listen to while painting and modelling and why?

Unfortunately, epic theme tunes from GW games are few and far between so any input would be very much appreciated guys.

Cheers

For me I generally have my tv on usually either a movie marathon or a tv series.
If I am listening to music it varies but I generally try to keep it melloww, using artist like Lykke Li or even The Pillows.

It just depends on my mood though.

I prefer to watch some video too. Mostly some "simple" stuff like animes or cartoons so i can still get most of the story despite concentrating on modeling.

If i listen to music i stangely prefer faster electronic stuff like happy hardcore or hardstyle. Even the faster beats don't distract me and actually are helping me get into the workflow.

Why is it that only those who have never fought in a battle are so eager to be in one?

When I was painting WHFB I happily listened to bagpipes while working on my Dwarves. In 40K, I listen to Gregorian chants, choir, or classic organ music while painting Blood Angels. For Catachans, I have a "soundtrack" of Rambo scores, cuts from the Predator soundtrack, and the odd music track from the King of Fighters video game (Team Brazil)....

Listening to Rambo was quite inspiring to finish work on my Marbo figure....

So I'm getting that you listen to music that fits the genre of model you are painting i.e dark, gothic and religious blood angels - so Gregorian chants and organ. 70s style foot slogger army - rambo.

I like it!

Though since I live in Edinburgh, Scotland. I may avoid any MORE bagpipe music

Thanks Guy

Metal. Its always been metal. Faster is better. My tastes have expanded somewhat to include techno/electronic/dubstep/all of that, but metal is the stand-by. Something about it just lets me zone out and get to work.

Of course, usually these days I have to keep an ear out for the baby monitor/etc so lately its just silence

I listen to podcasts and other things with banter that I otherwise wouldn't listen to. TGS podcast (now co-optional podcast), totalbiscuit and jesse cox playing terraria, the new polaris friendzone thing. I find there's plenty of other opportunities to listen to music, but painting and modeling leaves the mind basically unused so can listen to something that requires concentration.

I'll go back and forth between movies/TV series and something in the metal genre. When I'm watching TV series or movies I'll usually opt for a something I have on hand and have seen before rather than something I want to see for the first time.

Glad you liked her. Another one to check out is Warpaint. It's pretty chill and the song Sextape by The Deftones.

I like listening to audio books. The last one i finished was 'Enders Game' (excellent), currently its 'Stranger in a Strange land' (also very good). If i have to choose music, I would listen to some really sci-fi sounding drum and bass such as Bad Company or Nosia.

Currently different Metal bands like Blind Guardian or Three Inches of Blood. Audio books isn't a bad idea though...
